Hacking A little confused

I'm more familiar with gateway on rx tools on the o3ds. I just got a n3ds. and I'm having a really hard time. for one, I don't know what's reinand. and what's the different between it and emunand. and second, I've been trying to get on home brew for an hour now. and I don't know why it's taking so many times. you didn't need homebrew to get the cfw on the o3ds. do I really need to install an fbi installer on sysnand? Lastly, I'm on 9.6 rn

So 9.6 Sysnand? If so you will have to downgrade before even doing anything.

I tried downgrading the first time. it was going well. but in the middle of it. it just said "an error has occurred" and I turned it off. and I went on settings and it was still on 9.6. but I can't seem to even get on homebrew now.

It's common, but it's bad. You only want frankenfirmware if it's on purpose but this isn't on purpose. Basically, your system is screwed up.

There's probably more reasons why you'd want to purposely do it, but tbh, I've never needed to worry about it, so I've never really looked into it.

Assuming you were trying to downgrade to 9.2 I would try using a CN game and installing the 9.2 exploit on it and seeing if that boots homebrew
