Hacking A Dad question

So I've got the children a nintendo DS, someone at work said get a M3DS .....
What is the difference between M3DS Real (Rumble), Simply, R4DS ?
I expect they'll want to plat play games watch video, wifi - which would be best and why ?

They all do everything you said fine. The m3 simply and R4 are literally the same thing. They are made with the same hardware chips and everything. The m3 real is the newer one out of the three. I would say get the newest.

It really depends on how much you love your kids! ... Just kidding.

Like golden said, they're all pretty similar, the R4 and Simply are the exact same and the only thing different about the M3DS Real is that it supports SDHC. There are some problems with the auto-DLDI patching for Homebrew apps but they're not too bothersome that would make the card useless. The M3DS Real Perfect bundle comes with a Slot-2 card as well which allows you to play GBA games. (Whereas if you bought an R4/Simply you'd have to buy it separately; although, they're not too expensive)

Hey, you can't be too certain about that, there are some pretty useful homebrew apps I would use. QuakeDS anyone?

Kids might fiddle with the small microSD card and lose it.
I'd go for a card with on board memory, like the N-Card or the newer F-card.

If you really want expandable memory, go for the EZV, it's microSD card is hidden when it's inserted in the DS.

Or teach them the value of knowledge and let them make their own life decisions. It all depends on the person (and how they grasp common sense), I grew up with video games and I have my bachelors in Literature (don't ask how, I still think my writing skills suck ass) and an IT Diploma.

Agreed. Hadn't thought of that. Guess video games have brainwashed me too.

They are both book worms so no problem there.
I thought they were all much the same.
They do have Game Boy Advance games, so maybe the M3DS Real rumble would be ideal and the vibration seems unique + the memory cards go upto 6Gb !! according to www.model-gadget.com/

A few good Homebrew:
DS Organize, kinda like an agenda and organizer right on your DS, and you can also organize your files on the R4 or M3 or whatever you're gonna get.

Licks Media Player, iPod clone, plays music and just looks awesome. Great for kids.

Colors, another good game for kids, lets them draw on the DS, kinda like a painting software. You can also save your pics and use Wi-Fi ( I think?).
