I bought a 8266 device to store payloads an pulled out a launch xbox I had been storing to eventually exploit thing is upon boot it's asking to update from a locally stored update. Console is currently on 5.00 but I've got no clue what this downloaded locales stored update version is and I didnt dare hit update now to see if it would identify the version with the option to back out in case it just went straight to updating. I did some research an it seems the only way to remove this locally stored update is to run the payload and ftp into the ps4 but my concern is I'm going to have to update to 5.05 and I'm unsure if say I put 5.05 update on USB and this locally stored version is higher if it will use the higher version by default. Wondering if anyone can safely advise what I should do. Thanks guys.

If you’re not that bothered about games/saves and content. You might want to (back up and) format the console to be sure to get rid.

For now, put the 5.05 update on usb stick, disconnect from internet and try update via usb in safe mode. It will state what version update is found.
