but the circle pad pro was released by Nintendo after the 3ds release. so it would just be a matter of time before they will do the same for the 3ds xl. so I think you can't really say that is a con. sure it would be much better if Nintendo actually included it in this version, but maybe they just want to earn some extra money.
on the other hand, the lack of a charger completely astonish me, because why does the consumer wants to pay seperately for his charger. this is just one of the most stupid decisions Nintendo ever made.
I agree with Beertje about the annoying lines on the upper screen, a piece of cloth is the most easy solution for it. however, I don't think it matters enough to choose a 3ds over a 3ds xl.
Not having a second circle pad in this is a HUGE plus for us standard model 3DS users, think about it...
Having a second analog would result in game developers making games that actually requires dual analog control to be played, meaning that the standard 3DS wouldn't be able to play those games without the giant tumor known as the CPP.
I don't think anyone want the CPP to be a mandatory item in the future, other control methods exist for the system and making the 3DS bigger with the CPP would defeat the purpose of owning a standard 3DS.
Resident Evil Revelations supported the CPP but it wasn't necessary, you could even control the camera with the touch screen if you wanted.
The XL isn't a "revision", it's an alternative that goes alongside with the standard 3DS, unlike DS->DSL->DSi which were sold in and advertised separately, it's not meant to improve anything except for having bigger screens.
And on the issue with some 3DS's having upper screen smudges I've got to say that a cloth isn't the best solution.
It happens when the top screen is under pressure, however having the top screen pushing against a cloth with dirt or other sharp particles the screen could eventually get damaged.
So the best way to prevent the top screen from touching the bottom part is to cut out a strip of screen protector and put it above the top screen.
Like this:
It isn't noticeable and you don't have to worry about bubbles or dust like you have to when you're applying a screen protector.
