I've been getting some updates for games between an archive place and a certain shop. I've noticed the "X.X" versions are seemingly chaotic and mismatched between the 2 sources, but the "vXXXX" numbers are usually in sync. I've worked out that "0.1" translates to "v16" and "0.2" is equal to "v32" and so on/forth. I've also seen "0.0.1" means "v1" and "0.1.1" is equal to "v17". So, what's the system here? Does it go up in 16ths for version and then go to the next "X.X"? Why do they start in 0 anyway? Doesn't that really make it less than a whole product? I mean, having 0 of something means you don't really have it, right? I always considered "0.X" versions to be game betas and "1.0" being the actual release. It's a really baffling system to anyone looking in.
I have some games embedded with higher "vXXXX" numbers than I have on their respective updates. Does this make the update invalid?
If anyone understands how these work, it'd be nice to gain some knowledge!
