Wow, some people seem so brainwashed by Gateway. It's unbelievable.

I have 2 x r4i gold deluxe and they work great on all the games my kids want them to. No probs at all.
Yeah, and some people can buy a TV that will last 10 years and some can buy a TV that will last 30 days and break. There is a higher chance of the bricking because they copy Gateway's work and might not fully understand the code. Or you could be lucky and have no bricks like you.

But MT is based on the GW 1.2 release which doesn't contain bricking code.

Don't worry Technicmaster0, the anti-everything except Gateway trolls will be along soon ;)
I have a GW and I'll love to use 2.0 when it comes out but currently I only use the MT because it's better and safer than the GW 2.0B2 release. The GW 2.0B1 release contains a bug that doesn't let me safe and MT is better than the 1.2 launcher of GW. The only thing that's missing for my MT-Card is compatibility with Zelda: A Link between worlds since I don't really need EmUNAND.

It's quiet obvious and Profi200 said that. They don't have EmuNAND or any other feature that came with 2.0B1 (even the GUI loads another way) but the features that were included into 1.2 (Region Free, Firmware Spoofing).

It's already been proven due to how the file is made to help explain gateway hid how they achieved their methods by including un-needed code along with the genuine code, so clones couldn't just copy their methods..........that same un-needed code is in with the MT launcher proving that they based it on gateways launcher

Correct in the TV analogy and it's sometimes the expensive ones that breakdown, but 'higher chance of (r4i) bricking', I don't think so, it's mostly GW bricking and few if any MT/r4i etc

On Chinese online forums for 3DS roms and hacking there have been many more cases of clones bricking than original GW.I don't know if it's because clones are more popular here (they are certainly cheaper, almost Y100 cheaper.. a lot by Chinese standards).. Anyway, just browsing the first two pages you see numerous mentions of Link bricking and r4i Gold bricking...

Only 1 or 2 mentions of original GW bricking.

Especially the MT Launcher doesn't contain bricking code. The R4i 3.1 and 3.2 launcher contained bricking codes but the new one (3.3) is based on the R4i 2.0 or the GW 1.2 launcher. Maybe that's the reason why there are no more bricks.

just to clarify thats the 3.3b not 3.3, pretty sure 3.3 was still bricky

its already been covered though but some people don't like to admit it, all the initial bricks where using the clones, clone users all jumped ship and fell back to 3.3b whilst pretty much every gateway user stuck with b2, since then a few gateway users got hit so now most gateway users are back on b1 or 1.2, fact is that unless the clones learn some better coding, any future updates could still contain code that they wont be able to remove that could do anything at all, from formatting the SD, bricking the console still or simply preventing them from using the gateway firmware at all, who knows only time will tell, but as it stands r4 and co are stuck on 2.0 with apparently no progress made towards removing the brick code....if they cant figure that out i wouldn't hold their chances of any future updates at all too highly

also bear in mind the brick count for gateway is about 10 after many clone users trawling the internet and every forum possible to try add to that number, if the same was done for the clones god knows what the figures would say.

If the OP's still debating, get a Gateway for goodness sake. Don't be a n00b and get a piece of shit clone card. Regardless of what people say, if you follow the recommended/required installation steps to a tee, there is no reason why you shouldn't worry running Gateway's 2.0b2 software. All the people (I can probably count them on one hand) that have bricked using Gateway have clearly fucked up somewhere along the way...

Yet as there is -always- a chance that the code will activate! Therefor one shouldn't get a overly expensive flashcard. At the moment it is best to wait it out or don't get a flashcard at all!

Eh??

All I'm going on is what I read on this forum and it's most if not all GW!

I'm happy running my 2 x r4i on f/w v2 and my boys happy playing the games they always wanted to and with no issues. They are content playing the Mario and Luigi games together with lots of others. There's nothing that they want that will not run on my current f/w.

When all this hype by some GW fanboys blows over and there's (maybe) a REAL stable cart/fw, then I'll consider changing but until then, I aint paying a shitload more for something that does the same job with more chance of shagging the 3DS.

Common sense really and there's no way anyone can convince me otherwise - no matter how loud they bellow GATEWAY from the highest high!

Just like there is a chance the sun won't rise tomorrow, I'll continue using my Gateway with 2.0b2.
And the card isn't overly expensive, at least in comparison with other 3DS Mode Flashcards which come with no original updates and no real support whatsoever. For the sake of ~$20, anyone still considering getting a 3DS Mode Flashcard should still buy a Gateway.

Do you work for them rhece6??

Anyho' whatever price you mention, it's double for me as I have 2 ankle biters. 2 x $25(ish) is a lot of dosh to me!

nobody is telling anyone to replace their card, if you already bought a clone....good luck for updates, i really dont care tbh. but if someone has yet to buy a card it would be obvious they should know the facts behindd the cards, not just "this is cheap and works for me" you might be happy with that but the OP might be looking for the card with the most chance of future compatibility and new features, who knows maybe r4 will find someone who will code for them......but don't hold your breath, gateway has proven they will do whatever they can to block the clones from now on, so i personally wouldn't be placing any bets on them getting more updates considering they have done nothing at all so far except copy the gateway FW

the the OP only just try to read up don't let people say "oooh i have this and it is super and im am now rich with my £10 saving:rofl2:" just consider your options if your happy to probably be left with no more updates feel free to get one of the clones, if you want a card that is always adding new features stick with gateway, if you want to place your bets on the new kid on the block you can try MT card, its all personal choice, nobody can force you either way

lol No I don't work for Gateway. I'm just stating the simple facts as asked by the OP for his knowledge. No one gives a shit if your 2 kids are happy playing Mario and Luigi on their R4i. The OP asked about Multi-Rom support and hence therefore updates to the software, obviously in the hopes to possibly run newer release/ currently unsupported games down the road. I'm simply putting my opinion out there to try and avoid him making a decision he might later regret.

Don't think there was any need for that comment was there?
yeah it was a bit harsh, but i understand what he means kids may be happy with playing mario but others may want more than what a child would be happy with....as i posted, its up to the OP what he wants, we can only provide info...if i said "i love gateway so buy it too" that would be irrelevant its up to the OP what he is looking for.

There was all the need in the world for that comment, it needed to be said. I'm not trying to change your mind Keldoggg, you've obviously made that decision for yourself already and if it suits your needs then good for you. I'm not trolling either, I'm just simply reiterating the facts of which card has better features and more support for the end-user. I couldn't care any less what people spend their money on and I'm certainly not "Brainwashed" by Gateway...

btw keldoggg, nice try with the edit, real 'witty'. lol
