The things we recommend may be "old school" titles, a Homebrew, a ROM hack, sleeper hits, an application, etc, but one thing's for certain, we think they are fantastic and deserve your attention!

World of Sand DS​

At some point in our lives we will experience the fun of sand. Be it between our toes on a warm summer’s day, in buckets stacked and shaped into castles from our fantasies, or on our Nintendo DS consoles.

World of Sand DS is a project based on a Java applet game created by Dofi Blog. The point of the game is to manipulate the flow of sand, each with their own unique attributes. For example, the dark-brown "oil" sand flow can burn and the blue colored "water" sand flow can cause the green land element to grow. Sand can also be trapped into containers or redirected towards elements of destruction. WoS is a physics-based mini-game that does not come with instructions. The gamer must spend time playing with different element combinations to discover what is possible.

While the community was praising this Homebrew, they began discussing updates which would have included touchscreen controls, background music, and a new set of interactive options. Nornagon himself constructed a "todo" list which included a title screen, more elements (oxygen, oil well, snower, sand bucket, sticky goo, glue), a save feature, and multiplayer. If any updates were ever included the community would never know as the last public build was World of Sand DS v0.1.

World of Sand DS combined the experiences of individual flowing particles of sand and the forces of nature into an exceptional time waster. Playing it is incredibly relaxing and extremely fun for Homebrew enthusiasts of all ages.

Good choice AW =) ive had this homebrew on my cart for quite a long time, its a keeper. It's quite fun and relaxing.
I recently just found and have been playing around with a neat psp homebrew called the powder toy thats of the same nature as WoS.

edit: found that there is a Wii port of The Powder Toy too.

For a PC version, Powder Toy's the best in my opinion. It's under development and you can submit and view submissions online through the program itself, with comments and crap too. A fun way to waste time.
