The thing I like about the 2DS is that its different from everyday gaming because its the 1st gaming tablet its an all around different experience from the DS because of its tablet form the only thing I wish they kept was power saving mode a beautiful option that allowed for longer gaming sessions

well the Vita is sort of a gaming tablet. Personally I viewed the 2DS as the glorious return of Game Boy which is kind of why I had wanted one.

That aside, this video review says the L button may be hard to reach while using the dpad:

Damnit Nintendo! Although that makes it basically no worse than other models. And it just makes me take a relook at the issues with the Vita. (such as X button being too close to the stick, baww) Maybe I am expecting too much from handhelds. After all I ended up liking PSP the way it is. It would be a shame to become glued to PSP's layout without giving other designs a chance.

p.s. Fun fact: in USA the original 3DS is only available in purple and pink.
I guess that model is meant for the ladies now...

I haven't had any problems with reaching the L button while using the d-pad, but it probably really depends on the size of your hands more than anything.

Here is a more positive review than the one you posted. I really agree with everything this guy has to say: the mono speaker is good enough for me, the console is really comfortable to hold (more comfortable than DSi, DS Lite or GBA SP imo), and I haven't had problems with any DS or 3DS title so far. Get the carrying case for it, and the screens will be protected. :)

I guess the only deal breaker I can think of is the fact that the console comes with 3DS firmware 6.0.0-12, so Gateway and other 3DS flashcarts wont work (for now at least), but if you don't care about that, there isn't really any reason not to get the 2DS for those who don't care about the 3D.
