    You don't need to update firmware, but DO update your AMS to 1.8.0 along with sigpatches. The new forwarders (I think?) require it.

    To me it looks as if you haven't even closed the flaps on these FPC connectors, possibly even more? Disregard, I don't work with OLEDs, so I'm unfamiliar with those exact connectors.

    Sounds like there's something else wrong with your chip then. I would suggest doing as @linkref did and install either a RP2040-Zero or RP2040-Tiny and see if that changes anything. If it works, then it is definitely an issue with your original chip.

    "Necessary"? Unlikely. But if you use nuke.uf2, you can guarantee it is the same as if you were fresh-installing a new firmware to a fresh rp2040.

    If you don't know enough about the mod to know that the chip you posted won't work with OLED (without modification and/or searching for the different points on the board to solder to) then you should have a professional installer find and install a chip for you.

    If it's a USB-C cable, try flipping your cable. It's possible that they didn't properly wire their pins. You may only be getting power delivered through your cable, and no connection on data pins, thus your PC would power the board, but not put it in programming mode.

    Welp, I dunno if it'll help since it also looks like you removed the two components to the bottom right of the reset pads, but the pads in the red circle are also connected to RST according to the balika PCB layers.
