    A Portable Emulation Station Idea

I had the idea of turning a Dreamcast controller into a portable, full-fledged emulation console. While it sounds idealistic, it can be possible given the amount of space on the back of the controller. My idea involved it being to emulate everything up to Wii U or PS3/360. Are there any SBCs...

Hacking Either soft-bricked my switch or totally bricked after updating

Thanks for the help, but I might not try CFW for a while. At least not while Smash is still a big thing.

Hacking Either soft-bricked my switch or totally bricked after updating

Jig actually came in today. This is what it looks like. I just tried RCM and TegraRCMSmash didn't detect anything. Will a jig like that work? Edit: Switch just booted up into stock firmware. My Switch is actually ok.

Hacking Either soft-bricked my switch or totally bricked after updating

The jig comes in this Sunday. I'll try booting into RCM then.

Hacking Either soft-bricked my switch or totally bricked after updating

Just placed an order for a jig. If I'm able to boot into RCM, what would I do from there?

Hacking Either soft-bricked my switch or totally bricked after updating

I believe I had tried booting into OFW and got the same error back when I had AutoRCM on. Also, most methods I've used(paperclip, tinfoil)only worked once, which allowed me to install CFW on it. Any way to increase success rate?

Hacking Either soft-bricked my switch or totally bricked after updating

Sorta new here. I posted something similar on another thread which helped nothing. Starting up smash would only bring up a system update prompt and I brainlessly pressed Update. Tried booting in to CFW and stock but got the unknown pkg1 error, and then turned off AutoRCM thinking it would do...

Hacking Can't restart the switch in FCW mode... (unknown pkg1)

Better word choice would be brainless button pressing. Smash wouldn't start without an update prompt and I was trying to work around that. So, I take full responsibility but how can I seriously fix this?

Hacking Can't restart the switch in FCW mode... (unknown pkg1)

I’ve got a similar issue. I accidentally updated my switch while trying to see if I could downlod the latest smash patch to get Piranha Plant. I enabled AutoRCM, so tried rebooting that way, but got the same error. Then I disabled it. I can’t put it back into RCM now and I’m not sure what...

Last time I played a game was hmmm... can't exactly recall.

I can't believe you got me with that

I haven't been gaming for such a long time. Been mostly busy with sleep, hardware tinkering and checking GBAtemp frequently.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Hope you've had a good morning.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
    How are you doing?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.

It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
