Hardware So I cleaned up my PS3, but...

So, a few months ago I bought an used FAT PS3. The fans were really loud all time since I first booted it, and it also reached alarming temperatures (72-74 ºC) while just staying on the XMB. So I thought it was probably full of dirt on the inside and decided to disassemble the entire thing to...

Hardware Planning to buy a PS3 - Some questions

$15??? Wow, that's an impressive price. But is Ebay trustworthy? I've always been a bit afraid of buying in there. Anyways, thank you very much for your advice. I'll keep it in mind!

Hardware Planning to buy a PS3 - Some questions

Ah, true, the PS3 had some retrocompatibility stuff. But I don't think I would be using that, as I still keep my old PS2 and I'm also planning on bringing it back to life. So, in that case, I don't really need a lot of storage, right? Would 40GB be enough?

Hardware Planning to buy a PS3 - Some questions

Hmmm, I see. The Slim thing was something I read about back when mine died, but I wasn't sure anyway. Do Slim models have lower odds of getting the YLOD or something? If not, I would probably go for a Phat model then, and maybe a few months later get a HDD along with some more games. Thank you...

Hardware Planning to buy a PS3 - Some questions

Hello everyone. When I was far younger, I loved playing on my PS3. It's easily the console I've spent more playtime hours on. Unfortunately, one day, we got the infamous YLOD error and decided that trying to reball it or anything similar wouldn't be worth it. However, as I was still a kid when...

Hacking Factory reset a modded 3ds

It's a bit risky, yeah. But the CFW thing shouldn't be a problem. You could just not mention it - and I don't think the buyer will complain about having a modded console. If you want to be "clean" before selling it, just update Luma and B9S if it doesn't have the latest version yet.

Hacking Factory reset a modded 3ds

What "mod" does the 3DS exactly have? You can uninstall CFW, but it's not exactly recommended to do that as you might brick the console.

Hacking Factory Restored HACKED 3DS (Now cant see hax)

Yeah, or playing leaked games before the official release (which happened to some people with Pokémon Sun/Moon iirc). It's very unlikely that you will ever get banned just for having CFW.

I'd say you should be able to play online without any problems. As said above, just be careful about not doing stupid things that could get you a ban.

    Hi there!

Hello everyone. I'm a 18yo guy from Spain who is currently studying Software Engineering. I'm interested in learning software development, especially homebrew for several consoles such as 3DS. I signed up to GBATemp to read stuff and maybe share some of my work every now and then. See you all...
