Hacking Discussion PSA: Do not update to a new firmware immediately (e.g. 6.0)

Wait, what? Newer patches don't overwrite previous ones?

Homebrew RELEASE NX-Shell - Multipurpose File Manager for Nintendo Switch

Thanks, man. Does the UI still scroll when selecting a checkbox or have you fixed it? Still at work so I can't test yet.

ROM Hack Salt & Sanctuary Save Editor

I got the "Pepper and Church" Salt & Sanctuary save editor working, but it's convoluted with many steps. Once you've done it a few times, though, you can recognize various areas and you can search for key words yourself. The editor will not work with the "saveslot" file as presented by...

Hacking Question Is it possible to backup my saved games safely?

You mean force the Switch to save to the card instead of internal memory? No.

Hacking Question Is it possible to backup my saved games safely?

I'm guessing "yes". I can't see why it wouldn't work on the same firmware or moving from a lower to a higher. Test it before you actually need it. :)

Hacking Discussion PSA: Do not update to a new firmware immediately (e.g. 6.0)

You can update whenever you want, either by using a game cart that has it included or via ChoiDuJourNX. If you ever want to downgrade, though, choose option 2 and do your homework.

Hacking Discussion PSA: Do not update to a new firmware immediately (e.g. 6.0)

It truly saddens me that this has become necessary over the past few years, especially on Reddit.

Hacking Exploit to get SDXC support on 4.1.0?

Switch Backup Manager! https://github.com/gibaBR/Switch-Backup-Manager Not much. It'll either complain with an error or a prompt to update the system OS. I think. Ever since XCI Explorer / Switch Backup Manager showed up I don't ever try installing those anymore.

Hacking Discussion SX OS - Error and Solutions Thread

Make sure the 'archive' bit isn't set on any files. Files transferred via OSX have this problem a lot. Consider setting up a Windows share and mounting it via Samba. Save you a bit of time and a step or two.

Hacking Question Is it possible to backup my saved games safely?

So I did an experiment last night. I attempted to transfer my Zelda BOTW save from my legit Switch (5.1.0) to my hacked one (4.1.0). Both switches had identical installs - Zelda original release physical game cart, plus current update plus DLCs (5.1.0 legit, 4.1.0 less so). 4.1.0 savegame...

Gaming My personal review - Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana

That ship at the beginning was like the Tardis. Much, MUCH bigger on the inside than the outside.

    Hacking SX Pro Coming Tomorrow

I'm new as well and haven't had a reason to use that feature. Found it by going to the user's profile page then clicking the "Interact" dropdown on the right. I don't know of an easier/more convenient way. TegraRcmGUI is a friendly user interface to TegraRcmSmash, which is a console...

Go here, read and and download RajNX. Made by the same guy who made ChoiDuJour(NX), which you should download from the same site (https://switchtools.sshnuke.net). Extract RajNX to an SD card. Extract ChoiDuJourNX.nro to the "switch" folder. Find a zip file containing the files necessary for...

    Hacking SX Pro Coming Tomorrow

Backing up your NAND is done through Hekate, not CFW. You can do this before your SX Pro arrives, using a DIY jig to enter RCM. AFAIK ChoiDuJourNX doesn't work in SX OS, you have to use one of the other CFWs (ReiNX, RajNX, etc) packs as it, I think, needs Atmosphere. Also, again AFAIK, SX Pro...

    Hacking SX Pro Coming Tomorrow

AFAIK the OS will freak out and panic if too many fuses are burnt. It's been a while since I bothered reading about this though. Am I wrong in this?

Don't forget to also use biskeydump to get your keys. AutoRCM is REQUIRED if you go to 4 or above and ever want to go back to 3. NOGC is REQUIRED if you go to 4 or above and ever want to go back to 3 AND WANT TO BE ABLE TO USE PHYSICAL GAME CARTS. Offline activation is easy, there are full...

Hacking Suggestion Docked mode performance - In portable mode plugged into a wall

First of all, in order to be really useful on Horizon, it's not just a case of overclocking. Sure you can do that, but the blindingly fast output will still use low res textures and low res models. You've got to consider things individually like reduced textures/models/render quality/framerate...
