Hacking Process of the eMMC backup and restore in Hekate? Are backups en-, or decrypted?

Thank you! I was aware that there was some kind of update regarding mariko units, but havent checked the changelog yet. I'll definitely check it out.

Hardware N3DS no sound after fix, only camera shutter sound

Problem solved. So simple, yet so annoying. There is a metal sponge stuck to the main board (near the headphone jack), which connects the boards ground plane to the game cart readers ground plane. It was slightly misaligned, and only when assembled it would push against a resistor on the sense...

Hardware N3DS no sound after fix, only camera shutter sound

God, the 3DSident tool is awesome. I had to homebrew the system quicky, because the prev. owner was a die-hard-anti-modding-nintendo-fanboy. :D Turns out, when I twist the base of the unit, the headphone insertion state changes. So the cause of the problem is identified thanks to...

Hardware N3DS no sound after fix, only camera shutter sound

Okay, maybe i am a little too grumpy now. Sorry, TurdPooCharger. It's almost 5AM here, might need to rest. Ive read a lot of posts about this lately, including the port and the shutter sound. I will report back when I get the chance to open the system again, and see what can I use from the links.

Hardware N3DS no sound after fix, only camera shutter sound

'been trough all of these. None of them are like my issue. I know how sad it is when people just post instead of research, but this is not the case here. Please read the post too, not just the title. Edit: Sorry, the last one might be interesting for me, but I am sure that it isn't the port itself.

Hardware N3DS no sound after fix, only camera shutter sound

Sadly no, would be an easy fix though :D On the n3DS the slider is in the top half of the unit, and mine works when using a headphone.

Hardware N3DS no sound after fix, only camera shutter sound

IIRC the slider isn't directly connected to the speakers, but to the SoC and/or to the speaker AMP. Also the (only) speaker traces directly go to the connector "plug" on the fpc. As a last resort, I slighly bent the base of the n3DS, and sound came back. So yeah, it seems like I have a cold...

Hardware N3DS no sound after fix, only camera shutter sound

Recently I bought a used N3DS. Nintendo sent it back to the original owner from service that they could not fix it. They said that a flex cable should be replaced, and I wonder why they refused the repair. So: I figured that the speaker ribbon is the one at fault, since the prev. owner had...

Hardware PS4 Pro no power / lights (lightning damage)

Yeah, that PMIC is always on iirc. It supplies 3 different voltages: 3v3, 1v1 and maybe 1v8(?) I had a SAD-002 board, and it was indeed quite _sad_. Every coponent had to be replaced which was on the direct 5v rail. (something like 5 PMICs)

Hardware Help identify charge port on store demo 3DS XL

Hi! I fix electronics for a living, and this post made me curious about this special port. If someone can send a unit over to Hungary, i'll try to help reverse engineer it. Also there is a bar here in Budapest (Barcraft). IIRC, they own units like this with the kiosk (never seen them turned on...

Hardware PS4 Pro no power / lights (lightning damage)

Some of the PS4s have "reversed" pinout for the 4 pin cable. This means that the port is not consistent across all PSUs. Some boards have pins "near" to the board surface and some have pins "far". Will attach a picture later. This is why the PSU was cutting off. Realised this when I wanted to...

Hardware PS4 Pro no power / lights (lightning damage)

Already been trough this ifixit page. TronicsFix only stated that the retimer / psu might be bad. I am already using an alternative psu. Retimer chip supposedly has nothing to do with no power.

Hardware PS4 Pro no power / lights (lightning damage)

Sourced from local marketplace for cheap. Power supply is trash. Someone tried to "fix" it. The main board has no _apparent_ sign of damage. When pressing the power button (5VSB, GND, ACIN_DET&STBY present from ps4 slim psu) no beeps/lights appear. When introducing the 12v to the main board the...

Hardware PS4 SAD-002 onboard voltage rails & parts?

Hi there! I am looking for values/part numbers/substitutes for the components marked with red. If no info is available, i am looking for a dead board or salvaged parts (from someone on the forum, please send a DM if you have one). Also i am looking for the voltages i should expect on the two...

Hacking Process of the eMMC backup and restore in Hekate? Are backups en-, or decrypted?

It wont boot with Sx Core either. (Sx logo comes in, boot menu is operational, can boot payloads too) I know, it was a huge mistake to reflash it. But the question remains: Are the backups decrypted or bit-to-bit perfect from the eMMC? Also: Low battery and charging icon comes in. IIRC this...

Hacking Process of the eMMC backup and restore in Hekate? Are backups en-, or decrypted?

I have a patched switch, which is bricked. I mixed up a few eMMCs during a repair, and one burned an eFuse in this patched switch. I was able to bring the others back to life (since they were unpatched), but not this one. I am literally pulling my hair out. So, let the fun begin: I made a NAND...

    Hardware Unsure what happened now

I suspect a shorted BQ chip here. VCC_BATT should be around 4.2 when battery is unplugged & charger is connected. Use a charged battery, and look for hot components on the board. Remove BQ, and check if the shorts are gone. If not, remove caps around BQ too.

    Hardware Unsure what happened now

I wanted to check the voltage on the battery management ic output. You can't measure that with a battery connected. 2.6V means nothing - the battery still can be good if the BQ chip failed or vice versa.

    Hardware Unsure what happened now

Test this with original and simple 5v charger too: Plug it in, and measure voltage on battery posivitve terminal without a battery connected.

    Hardware Unsure what happened now

Half of the caps in the red box are actually inductors / coils. I believe the caps next to them show a short while the board has no power. Please test it with a plugged in 5v charger / charged battery. What does "not responsive" mean?
