Hardware Any guides out there on how to file down the replacement joycon housing?

Thanks for those links, I'll give it a shot tomorrow morning. I did shave a little bit from the area mentioned, but was wary of taking off too much given that they are clear plastic. As for the RCM, I've already link the points on the right Joycon board. As far as I'm aware having them...

Hardware Any guides out there on how to file down the replacement joycon housing?

I wanted a D-Pad on my console, as well as wanting to solder the right joycon for RCM, so bought a pair of the clear joycon replacements from Aliexpress. However, despite it seemingly being a pretty common issue, I couldn't find any sort of guide out there on how to cut or file them to reduce...

Hacking Xecuter SX FAQ - Finally!

If the soldered method is simply an internal implementation of the dongle, then I'm assuming it'll basically be a flex cable connected to the USB-C pins, which could be a real pain to solder. Or it could just be wired to test points.

Hacking New TX SX Information: New FAQs and Homebrew Support Confirmed for Launch

The price seems half decent and I was tempted, but Shop01media are now stating 1st July for back-orders. By that stage everything they're offering might be freely available, hard to say as there are still a lot of unknowns with the product.

Hacking SWITCH NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

https://switch.hacks.guide/blocking-updates I'm having an issue with my Switch whenever it's in sleep mode, I can't get it to reopen CFW. The only thing that works to boot it at all is the remove everything, hold down power, vol + and vol - for a few seconds and then power on to OFW, which...

Hacking How/When will you hack your switch for the first time??

I'll probably play around with the first CFW that's available, doesn't matter about whether it requires a hardmod. Main issue for me is not wanting to risk losing my game saves - I have 50+ hours each on Mario Odyssey, BotW and MK8, which isn't something that happens much for me these days and I...

Hacking Need to remove CFW from a console I bought, but am

Not sure what I did differently, but I managed to boot to the GodMode payload now, so hopefully from this point it should be pretty straight forward.

Hacking Need to remove CFW from a console I bought, but am

So I bought a cheap 3DS XL as I needed the NTSC motherboard from it. The seller didn't say it was running CFW, but said "the console will play UK games when the SD card is inserted" so I assumed as much, but figured removing the CFW would be pretty straightforward, having done it before...

Hardware New 2DS XL Motherboard Pictures

I was actually going to mention those pins as possible points when I posted yesterday, because the traces run diagonally on the other side of the board from the same area as the NAND, but didn't want to risk talking nonsense. Regardless, as I mentioned before, I really don't think it's worth...

Hardware New 2DS XL Motherboard Pictures

Sorry it took me so long to reply. Here's a picture of the battery: I did see that guy's video teardown and although kudos to him for doing it, he made a complete mess of the console.

Hardware 3DS XL not powering on

I've searched through the forums, but haven't found an answer for the issue I'm having. The console will not turn on and the power LED will not turn on at any point, even for a few seconds. Connecting it to the charger with the battery inserted turns on the charge LED and connecting it without...

Hardware New 2DS XL Motherboard Pictures

I imported a 2DS XL from New Zealand and of course the first thing I did was to take it apart, take some pics and offer a few of my thoughts on the console. Pros: - Fewest screws in any 3DS I've seen - total of 13 screws to remove the motherboard - A single motherboard, with almost everything...

Hardware Fixing d pad on a "new" Nintendo 3DS XL

You could try placing something small in the centre of the rubber part, that way you won't be interfering with the D pad contacts, but it might push up against the top plastic part and stop it from feeling so loose.

Hacking Downgraded using Decrypt9 and can't boot DS games. Any way to fix it?

Oh, no I wasn't - I was trying to boot from HBL, forgetting that the arm9loaderhax.bin on the card was now the Luma one. I created a payload and it worked; updated and restored just to be sure and everything seems to be fine now.

Hacking Downgraded using Decrypt9 and can't boot DS games. Any way to fix it?

OK, so I'm at the point where I've definitely got the files installed to the NAND when running 9.2.0 on A9LH, but I'm having some issues uninstalling it - SafeA9LHInstaller isn't booting for some reason and I can't seem to find any troubleshooting stuff on it post-install and restoring to the...

Hacking Downgraded using Decrypt9 and can't boot DS games. Any way to fix it?

I see. Although still having issues. As I said before, I did install them on the latest version of FBI and they worked, but were definitely linked to the SD card, as it stopped working as soon as I removed it. So this time I installed A9LH and a 9.2.0 ctrtransfer, but used an older version of...

Hacking Downgraded using Decrypt9 and can't boot DS games. Any way to fix it?

Nothing's on 11.3.0. As I've said a few times, there's no custom firmware running. When I did play around with different types of CFW and firmware versions to try and solve the issue, I restored the console back to the original NAND afterwards with a hardmod. It's something I've managed to...

Hacking Downgraded using Decrypt9 and can't boot DS games. Any way to fix it?

I updated on another console I do have the original NAND for, so I can just flash it back whenever, just trying to replicate the same thing before I try anything on the console for which I don't have the NAND (that's how I know normal update vs. recovery restore makes no difference). It will...

Hacking Downgraded using Decrypt9 and can't boot DS games. Any way to fix it?

I'm not running A9HL either. I mentioned it in my first post, but essentially imagine I'd followed the guide, but instead of installing 2.1.0 ctrtransfer, I installed 9.2.0, so no Luma, no HBL, no A9HL, nothing. The console seems to run fine, NNID and eShop (after updating) are fine, but it...

Hacking Downgraded using Decrypt9 and can't boot DS games. Any way to fix it?

Everything I've found about clean TWL firm presumes that I'm running Luma, which I'm not. I could, obviously, but I'm trying to get the console back to stock if at all possible.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
