Hacking Question Should you wait for the Online Service before you hack your Switch?

If I want to play a game online I can do so on my PC. I have plenty of legit purchased Nintendo games from NES/SNES original carts, Wii VC, Wii U VC and NES/SNES Minis. I am not interested in buying those roms again. The online service will have no effect on if I hack my Switch or not.

Homebrew Fail0verflow Releases Debian for Switch and Teases Dolphin Emulator

Thank you whoever did the first little push and let gravity take over from there to cause all these releases today!

    Hacking Fusee - Launcher Released

Oh neat. Once the Switch scene got a little push things started picking up! So can this be used to boot Linux off a microsd card? I get that CFW is still being tested and wanted to try out Linux at some point. Though not if it requires installing stuff to my Switch's internal memory.

Tutorial Fusée Gelée FAQ by Kate Temkin

I don't pay attention to Switch news for a couple days and stuff looks like its hit light-speed ahead. Keep your excitement in check until something is actually out because you never know what could happen to stop it. That said things are looking very promising!

Hacking Atmosphere to be estimated released in Summer 2018 for ALL firmwares.

Glad to hear. I will keep my excitement down until its actually out, not as a knock on the people behind this, but just learning from past experiences. Also sticking with 4.1 to be safe.

Hacking Discovered a METHOD for UPDATING outdated Games

Are people's reactions really that surprising to the OP? You showed off a highly anticipated feature then wonder why people would be upset over it possibly being pulled and not released? People have been told to keep their systems on 4.1.0 or lower, and thanks to that are being locked out of...

Hacking So up to what gen do you think Switch can emulate?

If you want a system that can run Gamecube and Wii games in addition to others you should pick up a cheap Wii U. The chances of the Switch ever doing so is extremely slim. I think emulation will max out with a few Dreamcast and PSP games running full speed.

Hacking Do not buy digitally from Eshop on 4.X

Thanks for testing this out. I was thinking of getting some eshop cards and trying to get another game or two, but thats out now. I'll make due with what I have then.

    Hacking Switch Update 5.0.0 Released

Got a Switch this past week that was on 4.0.1. Went ahead and updated to 4.1.0 to enable >32GB SD cards and got 3 eshop games while doing so. Glad I did as it will be staying there for a long time now.

Homebrew Homebrew launcher delayed for 2 weeks !

Wii U scene 2.0. The end destination can never be reached without tons of drama beforehand. Maybe Nintendo systems are just cursed.

Hacking Has anyone figured out how to turn a 50 gb ps4 game into 1gb?

That doesn't really work when more and more games keep having large day one patches, or worse still require a download to even work if you have the disc/cart. As I said, the problem seems to be worse with the xbox this time around than the ps4, but theres games on both that have this issue.

Hacking Has anyone figured out how to turn a 50 gb ps4 game into 1gb?

Game sizes have gotten stupid this gen. On xbox its even worse, especially Microsoft's own games. If your ISP is either slow or cap happy your best bet is a rental service like mentioned above.

Hacking Why is every major dev of the Switch scene pissed about Xecuter's work?

I don't even care about piracy personally. I am just glad that after the dreadful Wii U scene the Switch one looks like stuff is actually going to happen with it without all the needless bullshit and teasing beforehand. I will probably pick one up soon now along with a few games.

Hacking What systems is the Xbox One X not capable of emulating?

The CPU is still the same as the original Xbox One, just clocked 33% faster at 2.3ghz. I have an Athlon 5350 at 2.3ghz (Same design as the XB1/PS4 cpus, just with 4 cores instead of 8) in a spare machine and it can't emulate any modern systems at full speed. The horsepower just isn't there for...

Hacking System resources increase coming for UWP programs this fall.

PCSX2 performs worse than Dolphin in all honesty. I have an Athlon 5350 in a spare system and while I didn't try many games, the only one I remember running full speed was Neo Geo Battle Colosseum since its a relatively simple 2d fighter as far as CPU usage is concerned. Which wouldn't be much...

Hacking System resources increase coming for UWP programs this fall.

As nice as Dolphin would be, I have to agree with the idea that the CPU is just too slow to be of real use for it. You might be able to get something like NSMB or some simple Gamecube games running OK, but most stuff is going to be very slow. The extra cores don't really help since you can only...

Tutorial How to install Retrix (Retroarch/Libretro port) for Xbox One

Microsoft hasn't mentioned anything about developer mode getting any Xbox One X enhancements. The resource increase is coming for all system models, and since they will want applications to be fully backwards compatible I doubt there will be any X only enhancements. That said the new freedom...

    Hacking Libretro/Retroarch on Xbox One

I would say thats both good and bad. Bad that it makes it seem like the scene is kinda hanging on by a thread. Good in that there is no daily dosage of drama, idiocy and bullshit like has plagued pretty much every console homebrew/hacking scene before. After putting up with those kind of...

Hacking The state of homebrew on Xbox One

It will with the next major update for it. Dev mode will have the same resources as commercial games do. As for Dolphin, I am going to hold off being too excited for it yet as at its core, the XB1 still only has 1.73ghz CPU cores. There will be some stuff possible going forward that isn't now...

Gaming xbox one jailbreaking or rootting very soon?

One of the first thoughts I had after the shock of them fully opening up dev mode to be on par with retail games is how this makes a jailbreak even less likely now. No reason to try and hack the system for more resources when you already have that without any of the risks.
