GOG release of 2016 Hitman reignites controversy surrounding online connections for single-player games

At this point, I'm not going to blame GoG for this as much as I blame IOI for making such an intrusive progressive model that effectively makes this game impossible to be truly 'DRM-free' without a complete rewrite and overhaul of how timed events and bonus progression works. It's not even like...

Homebrew Discussion Why does the Switch scene feel so stagnant these days?

P'much what Osaka35 said; everything was hectic around the time Atmosphere was just a set of kernel patches rather than a stand-in replacement of its own. The common homebrew APIs constantly switching, people getting experimental and testing the boundaries of what they can do with the...

Homebrew RELEASE re3-nx: Reverse engineered GTA 3 for Nintendo Switch

Unfortunately in court, semantics are everything. This can still be a much bigger deal than anyone would've thought. And considering how there are other projects that use this same straight-from-source reconstruction, it sets dangerous precedents for other projects should this go in T2's favor...

Homebrew RELEASE reVC: Reverse engineered GTA Vice City - Switch port

Overarching statements like these are probably exhibit A of why *Take Two are seeking compensation. We really should be working on making better examples of ourselves if we really want T2's dumbass claims of 'piracy' to sink as they rightfully should. Even if the ports are literally just that...

Homebrew RELEASE reVC: Reverse engineered GTA Vice City - Switch port

Considering Graber is being called out by name in T2's court document, we can expect to never hear from them again on this (or until a verdict has been reached). So. . . I've got bins and sauce for those that care?

Homebrew RELEASE re3-nx: Reverse engineered GTA 3 for Nintendo Switch

The nightlies work fine, but it's not unusual that the builder can have a brainfart sometimes. Happens with RetroArch buildbot every so often. Just check the Switch artifacts on the commit prior to the latest, and so on until you find the package that works.

Homebrew RELEASE Egg NS 2.0.0 - Huge update

The difference here is that the games are still being sold and this can only inspire piracy. Which is already a legal gray area where many parts of the world are concerned, but because the Switch is still relevant, and in fact still getting big name games for the next couple of years, this is...

Homebrew RELEASE melonDS for Switch — continuation

Instabilities with some games; i.e. Mega Man Battle Network 5 DS intro crashes on values beyond 20 or so. I haven't tested others, but felt the halfway mark at 16 was a safe value, and it has been so far.

Homebrew RELEASE reVC: Reverse engineered GTA Vice City - Switch port

For the record, the OP said: Not gonna say much more than that, it speaks for itself.

Homebrew Question What are the chances of me being banned?

Sure, send me another $300 to splurge on the used market. :P For the most part, the real stake Nintendo has, for as long as they've had a word in the scene, is in piracy; that's where they actually lose money in, and that's the primary factor that all of the system/network's built-in...

Homebrew RELEASE melonDS for Switch — continuation

Make sure it's not also reproducible with the interpreter. Could be fault of the JIT - the maximum block size value probably won't work for you, so tweak it as necessary.

Homebrew Question What are the chances of me being banned?

Have been using CFW on sysNAND for the past couple of years, and still have yet to be banned. Just follow common sense; don't cheat/patch online games (anti-cheat will chase you after some point), don't use pirated cart images or illegally sourced downloads (nuked on sight), and avoid using...

Homebrew RELEASE melonDS for Switch — continuation

Using this update, the improvements are immediately apparent. Everything has been running exceptionally well on stock clocks, and the new renderer has--ironically--rendered my old bug report on this thread (regarding MMBN DS games) null and void. I've played maybe close to a solid hour of Tales...

Homebrew RELEASE TriPlayer - A feature-rich audio player for Nintendo Switch

Bumping. I've attempted a recompile on my local dev environment, but seems like the libtesla input refactoring is almost exclusively causing havoc that prevents a clean build. It's a bit beyond me unfortunately to fix, so if OP or someone else could contribute, it would be appreciated.

Homebrew Emulator PS1 high resolution in Atmosphere?

Because there are people that prefer not having to dualboot, don't have extra storage cards/space, or just like Horizon more. All perfectly legitimate. Anyways, yeah; until Duck/Swanstation gets an NX port through either the original or Libretro cores, OP's SOL.

Homebrew Question With JITS Shop gone, what is the best alternative for Tinfoil?

This is not a topic that should be discussed at all on this forum. Why am I getting deja-vu for the fifth time now?

    Homebrew RetroArch Switch

First, anyone can be a developer of an open-source project. Second: Duckstation's lead (and the one who basically does the bulk of actual core development) pulled away from Libretro and has left the lr-compatible core in a state of limbo. It's been forked, but no commits since that happened...

Homebrew WIP Sonic Robo Blast 2 + Kart for Switch

You don't need OpenGL for mods unless it's specifically md2 model packs. Either put your mod paks in the same directory as the NRO, or make a new directory to put them in.

Homebrew RELEASE melonDS for Switch — continuation

Looks like Rockman.EXE Operate Shooting Star (and likely MMBN5 DS) has a small error on Switch. Sprites that are meant to fade-in instead pop into existence. Left/Top is MelonDS Switch, Right/Bottom is MelonDS Windows Also affects MegaMan Battle Network 5 DS, albeit harder to spot. The...
