Homebrew nds-constrain't - Taking advantage of a flaw in the Nintendo DS(i) SSL library

Regarding the DMCA, we're pretty sure it's not from Nintendo. There's numerous grammar errors, trademarks aren't correct (should be Wi-Fi Connection, not WiFi Connection), and there's no registered copyright numbers. For reference, here's a valid Nintendo DMCA on GitHub...

Homebrew Memory Pit - A new DSi exploit for DSi camera!

Memory Pit is a new DSi exploit in the DSi camera! Using it is very simple: 1) Download the attached file and put it in sd:/private/ds/app/484E494A 2) Put the hbmenu.nds file on the root named boot.nds (can't be unlaunch, it won't work. Unlaunch can be booted via hbmenu however) 3) open DSi...

Homebrew Looking for Pokemon Dream World's .swf files

As of recently, I've taken an interest in trying to revive Gen5's Pokemon Dream World (mostly because of the discovery of nds-constraint). Yet, despite me searching high and low, all over the internet, I was unable to find most of the files (I've got some, but what I do have is missing a...

@zoogie Thank you for that! It truly means a lot! c: I'm glad to see this being used in this way. Never thought ugopwn would be used to install CFW onto a 3DS, yet here we are.

Also iirc you can turn off online multiplayer in your world's settings to work around that until it's fixed. It's not Nintendo this time lol.

    Homebrew [Release] Ugopwn

Instructions are included in the .zip - nothing has really changed since the Incident™. There might be improvements later on (but we'll see). I recommend installing sudokuhax with this as to avoid the "copy/paste 122 times" step every time you wish to run homebrew. Here's a video thanks to...

Homebrew Save Miiverse... or another alternative

Shutterverse *is* a thing, but I've stopped developing the replacement itself(for now) so that I can focus more on dumps etc. If anyone has discord and is involved in Miiverse documentation/anything else Miiverse related, drop by here: https://discord.gg/SxNqKU @QuarkTheAwesome

Homebrew [Concept & Idea] Creating a custom DSi Virtual Console

I mean, it's not just GBARunner this could be done for. Stuff like NesDS, gameyob, and more could get DSi-styled menus.

Homebrew [Concept & Idea] Creating a custom DSi Virtual Console

Just throwing my thoughts out there: The DSi only has 39 home menu slots. There are potential workarounds, but we'll see what happens. This is a possibility for sure. In fact, I've managed to extract the DSi system settings graphics, and sent them Gericom's way for GBARunner2. jEnesisDS won't...

    Suggestion Nintendo DSi forum?

With the upcoming release of HiyaCFW(https://github.com/shutterbug2000/hiyaCFW) aswell as a DSiware exploit for DSi browser or Flipnote Studio, I think there's enough activity now to justify a DSi section on the forums. I believe this has been discussed in the past, but I couldn't find the...

Homebrew nds-bootstrap loader: Run commercial NDS backups from an SD Card

The donor is a ROM file, which the arm7 binary is pulled from. So all you need is a ROM file of MKDS obtained through any means.

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!

@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
