    You can't go online on PS3 without updating firmware, so that can't be it. Also you can't go online without updating the game. So that can't be it too. My guess is a faulty Black Ops 2 disc. Maybe check the disc for scratches?

    PS3 is well worth the money mate! I've had mine (the Slim version, which was 160GB) for 2 years now and I'm still enjoying gaming on it every day. Money well spent!
