Hacking FULL SPEED PS1 emulator on 3DS?

The 3DS isn't really similar to the Wii at all. ARM vs PPC, dual-core vs single-core, GX vs OpenGL ES, 128MB RAM vs 24MB. The in-game graphics might look similar in quality, but that's rarely relevant when you're talking about emulation. I'd guess it really comes down to the CPU. We don't...

Hacking DSiPlayer refuses to work on a 3DS

Guys, Nintendo will not brick your system if they detect a flash card. It's nothing more than a stupid, unfounded rumor. First, it's illegal in most countries for Nintendo to brick your system for ANY reason, even if they detect you doing something against their EULA. The most they can do is...

Hacking What does 3DS mean for homebrew?

3D on the 3DS is most likely done by loading all the geometry into the GPU and then rendering the same scene from two slightly offset cameras, simulating your two eyes. The two frames are then combined into a single display that alternates pixels from each frame, and the parallax barrier on top...

Hacking DSLibris on your 3DS? - Have you? Do you?

Nah, there are plenty of people who would love to see the 3DS do more than just play games. I'm sure someone will pick it up even if the original devs have abandoned it. The port will probably be pretty easy anyway.

Hacking (FAKE) 3ds flash cards have officially hit the market!!

It claims to be "the real ultimate experience in your hand", but I don't see how it could compete with some of the experiences I've had in my hand. EDIT: Just realized that the official box says that too! Maybe someone should tell them...

Hacking DSLibris on your 3DS? - Have you? Do you?

Well, the "cure" is to wait until people figure out native 3DS homebrew, and then wait until someone ports DSLibris. It's open source, so I'm sure a port will happen fairly quickly after it becomes possible. Otherwise, unless there's an officially-licensed 3DS ebook reader (unlikely but...

Hacking DSLibris on your 3DS? - Have you? Do you?

I have a 3DS and an Acekard2i and can confirm that DSLibris runs perfectly. It's blurrier because of the upscaling, but still easily readable. If the blurring bothers you, you can hold Start while opening the flashcard to get it to run in 1:1 mode, but that means the text is going to be 1.25x...

Hacking GBA Emulation on the 3DS?

Actually it's not. The DS's screens are each 256x192, and the 3DS's lower screen is 320x240. That's why DS games blur a little when you play them on the 3DS, because of the upscaling. The GBA is even lower resolution, at 240x160.

Hacking GBA Emulation on the 3DS?

The 3DS should be able to emulate the GBA pretty easily. Nintendo won't tell us what CPU it's using, but rumors say it's got two 266 MHz ARM11 cores. To compare, the DSi has a 133 MHz ARM9 and a 33 MHz ARM7, the DS has a 67 MHz ARM9 and a 33 MHz ARM7, and the GBA has a 16.8 MHz ARM7. I don't...

    Hacking Acekard 2i 3DS update

Free replacement, really? If you have HW:44 it means you bought it waaaayyy back when they first came out (like me). I promise you it still does everything it did when you bought it, and they have no obligation to provide you with extra functionality. If you want one that will work on the 3DS...

Hacking Savefile encryption of Ridge Racer 3D has been broken

So I'm guessing they use the same keystream to encrypt the game itself, and that's why Erant was able to decrypt the game so quickly? That's awesome.

Hacking Savefile encryption of Ridge Racer 3D has been broken

Isn't that precisely what Erant claimed he did in a later tweet?

    Hacking GBA Adaptor for DSi/3DS

Are you talking about this? http://gbatemp.net/t281715-gba-emulator-for-ds-i Still seems pretty new, I'd give it some time before you give up on it.

    Hacking GBA Adaptor for DSi/3DS

All the emulation work is already done as there are plenty of open source GBA emulators already out there. The hard part is optimizing it to work with the meager resources of the Nintendo DS. If we could make DSi homebrew I'm sure we'd have a GBA emulator already since the faster CPU and extra...

Hacking Savefile encryption of Ridge Racer 3D has been broken

A minor flaw is the same as a major flaw if it lets you decrypt (and presumably re-encrypt) savefiles. I agree, it's probably not going to be useful by itself, but it's still a prerequisite for a lot of the things we'd like to be able to do on the 3DS. I've heard that saves aren't transferable...

    Hacking 3DS NAND is rippd!

So, the entire file is zeros except for a few regions: 0x07000000-0x08FFFFFF 32 MB 0x10000000-0x10FFFFFF 16 MB 0x18000000-0x18FFFFFF 16 MB 0x20000000-0x20FFFFFF 16 MB 0x28000000-0x28FFFFFF 16 MB 0x30000000-0x30FFFFFF 16 MB 0x38000000-0x38FFFFFF 16 MB Added up you can see that the sections...

    Hacking 3DS NAND is rippd!

It would if the file had about 129 MB of actual data and the rest was just zeros or filler. Why encrypt the part of the NAND with nothing in it?

Hacking So appaerntly Amazon has a super cluster you can rent out?

You are so, so wrong. Okay, so let's assume they use the same strength encryption that the DSi used for the common key. 128-bit, right? That means there are 2^128 possible keys. Brute forcing means you try each one and see if it works. Pretty simple. So say we have the 10,000 most awesome...

Proof? Do we even know what strength the encryption is?

    Hacking 3DS Rips

No, the DS was hacked within months. The DS came out Nov 22, 2004 and I got my PassMe in April 2005. The DSi was released Nov 1, 2008 and Sudokuhax was released Jan 27, 2011, over two years later. So it took about 4-5 times longer for the DSi than the DS.
