Hacking Virginize Wii Mode on Wii U

That's actually not strictly true. I don't think it has come up with video game consoles but with respect to smartphones the EU mandates that the company needs to prove that your modification caused the issue to arise. http://fsfe.org/freesoftware/legal/flashingdevices.en.html That's probably...

    Best "open" handheld for emulation?

A decent Android device with physical controls would be perfect. The handhelds JXD makes look decent, but it seems like only the 7" model is worth buying.

    Best "open" handheld for emulation?

I actually have a PSP, I just haven't been happy with the inconsistency of the emulators. Plus, when I have my PSP hacked I've had issues with PSN allowing me to download my games. I'd really prefer something that's open by design. The Dingoo looks interesting, and from a little googling it...

    Best "open" handheld for emulation?

I'm looking for something to play old games (preferably up through PSX). I know there are a lot of options, but what is the best of them? The OpenPandora looks good but it's a bit too expensive for what I want. I'd like to spend under $200. If it had good native games as well that would be a bonus.

Hacking I want to start from scratch, would love some help

Well, I decided to go ahead and follow the completesoftmodguide's manual update guide to 4.2, and just used AnyTitleDeleter to delete things I wasn't using anymore. Also, Priiloader is so much better than the last time I used Preloader. Seems to boot quicker, and the Wii Remote still works...

    Hacking Configurable USB Loader

I take it that was my problem then? I was hitting "Generate config.txt with All Options" instead of just Global Options.

    Hacking Configurable USB Loader

Well, thanks, this helped me figure it out. I'm not sure why, but using the Configurator that came with the app was making it write a few values twice in the config.txt, so I was only editing the first instance of "cover style". I'm guessing I was using it wrong.

    Hacking Configurable USB Loader

I just switched to Configurable, and I had a minor issue. I want to use the 2D cover style (I just don't like the way 3D looks), but I've failed in all attempts to do so. I set cover_style = standard in my config.txt, as well as the theme.txt for all the themes I might want to use, but it still...

Hacking I want to start from scratch, would love some help

Actually, reading over that guide, it seems like this might not be a great idea. Maybe I'll just clean it up with AnyTitleDeleter. What's the best way to update? Should I update through Nintendo and then rehack it, or should I find a safe updater somewhere?

Hacking Probably going to switch USB Loaders... couple quick questions

You need to make sure you're using cIOS 222 as your "base/default." Go into the global game load settings and make sure 222 is selected. Also, unless you've enabled beta updates, you need to be using cIOS222 v4.

Hacking I want to start from scratch, would love some help

Great, thanks for the info. One last thing. Someone had told me they FAT32 is actually more stable than WBFS for USB loading now. Is that true? I'm having a hard time believing that because I've always just assumed you were sacrificing stability/reliability for convenience.

Hacking I want to start from scratch, would love some help

I'm currently on 4.1, but I've been modded since 3.4 and I'd like to remove all my homebrew and start over. First, I had seen a guide to reverting your Wii to "virgin" status, but now the only one I can find is fairly old. Can anyone link me to a current one? Second, should I remove BootMii...

Hacking Probably going to switch USB Loaders... couple quick questions

Well, I was using NTFS, but I wanted to switch since only Configurable and GX support it, plus I learned you can't rip new games. I'm really more concerned with which loader/IOSes I should use, but thanks for clearing up that FAT32 is actually better in all ways.

Hacking How do I install configurable USB Loader?

I honestly don't see the point of NTFS/FAT32. The only nice thing is that you can manipulate the file system easier, but it's not difficult to just keep a small FAT32 partition and format the rest as WBFS.

Hacking How do I install configurable USB Loader?

Yes, you do need 222/223 for NTFS support. But did you uninstall it by deleting everything associated with it (including the cIOS?) or did you just delete it from your SD card?

Hacking How to use NTFS with Configurable USB Loader?

You can never install games to an NTFS drive, no matter what loader you're using. You have to do so from ISOs on your computer.

Hacking Probably going to switch USB Loaders... couple quick questions

I'm currently using USB Loader GX, and while I absolutely love the interface I've had enough problems with it that I want to switch. I'm looking at Configurable USB Loader and uLoader. The biggest draw of uLoader to me is the support for NAND emulation of WiiWare/VC games and saved games/dlc...

Hacking How do I install configurable USB Loader?

Is USB Loader GX was all set up and working as well as it could be, all you should need to do is get the Configurable USB Loader DOL and put it on your SD card.
