PS1/2 Do modern burners/CD's make lower quality PS1 backups?

My oldish ihas124 E seems to burn copies fine. Last copy I ran off years ago at x16 on a Verbatim Pastel cd-r (these are taiyo yuden), worked fine on both my old 9000 series that is my original console from back in the day with a random 4 wire chip and has probably never seen an original disc...

Youtube is driving me loco with the ads

Default youtube experiance just sucks. Can't use it without Ublock, Sponserblock, and clickbait remover to get rid of all the "pulling a stupid face with a red arrow" thumbnails. Even if you paid for premium, would still have to run sponserblock and clickbait remover.

Nintendo sends DMCA notices for "syspatch-updater" homebrew app by iTotalJustice

Nah, I don't mean stuff like that. There was a period (I want to say when the wii or maybe when slot1 ds card got popular) where people would ask for help with X game they downloaded or X release and instead of help you'd just get people posting shit like "buy the game" and complaining instead...

Things you recently bought or got

Needed a new ds card, thought I may as well get one that does ntrboot as well in case I even need it. Surprised by the quality, I was expecting for it to need a bit of paper shoved down it to show up or for it to catch going in and out the slot as I read a lot about poor shell quality, but it...

Nintendo sends DMCA notices for "syspatch-updater" homebrew app by iTotalJustice

They stopped hosting roms because of site takedowns. Thats the whole reason it's called "gbatemp" because when it hosted roms it would get taken down and have to move, hence gbatemp as it was just temporary. Rom links stopped to make it a more permanent home. Even after the roms stopped being...

OK, so we are all here because at the core, we are GAMERS. Which consoles do you currently use? I'd like EVERYBODY HERE to chime in!

I have GameGear (dunno if it works still) Gameboy Colour GBA SP PSP 2000 series Original DS A reshelled ds lite (don't really like this, shell is not great). Original Playstation with just a normal 4 wire chip. PSone with a psnee and dfo. N64 one PAL, one NTSC with RGB mod. Dreamcast. PS2, has...

    Vsync

It doesn't work the same as without vrr. On a VRR monitor Vsync basically controls what happens when you go out of the variable refresh range of whatever monitor or tv you have. Vsync on & out of vrr range=standard vsync with all it's downsides. Vsync off & out of vrr range=no vsync so tearing...

    Vsync

Technically G-sync with a module is the best because it's the only one that has proper variable pixel overdrive, but it's generally not a big enough deal that most people will care/notice it. The others are all much the same and any differences between them will come down to the implementation...

    Vsync

Only proper G-sync (hardware module in the monitor) is Nvidia only, but only for the older V1 module. "G-sync compatible" is just Nvidia's name for Vesa adaptive sync which is what AMDs "Freesync" is as well and works with both. Whole VRR nonsense is just a mess. There is: Proper G-sync...

PS2 (SCPH-30004R) waits 1-2 minutes before spinning discs

Probably the laser. Clicking is normally the laser on it's way out, it's been a long time but iirc it's the lens moving up and down struggling to focus. The disc won't spin unless the console can detect it, so clicking & long to time to spin is normally the laser having trouble picking up the...

Apple is being sued for antitrust violations by the Department of Justice of the US

Unless you want to use custom roms (which come with their own headaches anyway, like fighting with safetynet), I'm not sure what's suppose to be "bad" with them. I switched from a moto g6+ on stock android (custom rom, lineageos, so 100% stock android) to a Samsung A34 & haven't had any issues...

Are you me? I was also on Motorola before going over to the A34 because of the longer support. I wish Motorola would increase their support length. While their regional variants are a bit weird (nfc often missing from NA models), there is normally a decent phone at most price points and the...

Could vary by region, but when it launched here (UK) Samsung said 4 years for os, 5 years for Security. https://news.samsung.com/uk/the-samsung-galaxy-a54-5g-and-galaxy-a34-5g-awesome-experiences-for-all "Galaxy A54 5G and Galaxy A34 5G also guarantee up to four generations of OS upgrades and...

Is this the best way to store disc only games ?

Jewel cases if they are original discs and you've just lost the case. Paper sleeves for backups. Every disc sleeve I've used has eventually left hairline scratches on cds & dvds, don't care on backups, but not a fan of them for original discs.
