Well, after 4 day's of working fine in the horizontal position, the loud whirring noise started again and I got a DRE
My lens cleaning kit should arrive soon, so I'll give that a try, in the faint hope that it will fix the problem.
I saw on another forum that Nintendo had advised someone to put their Wii in the horizontal position.
I tried it and it has stopped the disk read errors!
For 3 days now I have played games without a single error! See if it works for you...
In the last day or so I've been getting disc read errors, even on backups which have been running happily for months without a problem.
Is there anything I can do, or is my Wii on it's way out?
I think you have to set the option to block updates to ON, using the 1.4 config disk. By default I think it's OFF, even though it may say it might say ON when you load the config disk.
@Nekobibu
Yep, same here. I have Wiikey 1.9s firmware, and have the option to block system updates switched on.
I just burned the disk as-is and it loaded straight away on my PAL wii, with no update in sight. Didn't use freeloader either.
This method also works for Williams Pinball Collection. Using Trucha, I got an error when trying to replace the apploader file.
This game plays fine on my PAL Wii now with just the one disc!
And how do you edit Trauma Center New Blood? You can't - it won't load in Trucha Signer.
The *only* way to play a backup of this game on a PAL Wii is via Freeloader.
This is brilliant, working fine here on my PAL Wii.
Just tested it with Williams Pinball Collection and it plays perfectly, with no black bar at the bottom (like it did after patching it with VMC).
Excellent stuff.
How do you pick locks in Bully Scholarship Edition? I'm on the chapter called "That Bitch" and I need to pick a lock to proceed.
I stand in front of the locker, press Z and then the lock appears with a clockwise arrow. So a rotate the Wii remote but nothing happens, which ever direction I...
This is great work, as usual.
Just tried this new version on Williams Pinball Collection, converting to PAL 576i, but the black bar was still at the bottom of the screen. No worries though, it's still playable.
Thanks callmebob. Tried the brute patch method on Williams Pinball at PAL 576i and it works great! There's a black bar along the bottom of the screen but it's no big deal.
So when I get my big LCD telly back next week, which connects via a component cable, will I have to re-patch the ISO...
Has anyone managed to get Williams Pinball collection working on PAL?
With VMC 2.1 (smart patcher method) it gets to the title screen, but crashes on the demo video.
I got my Wii modded at Bowler's Computer Fair, Trafford Park, Manchester.
£60 to supply and fit Wiikey while-u-wait. The computer fair is on every Saturday and it costs £3 to get in.

I'm gonna buy another Series X, but can't decide if I should wait till the Xbox June event (maybe they get discounted) or just buy now. What do you guys think?
