    dsgametools updated

Oh, and by the way, I've got a 3-rooms demo (blog post) (direct download link) Not much to do but take doors to travel from one environment to another. Still much to update, but it gets slopes, animations and songs-switching, all of which the previous engine was unable to handle.

    dsgametools updated

Hello everyone! I got a major update of my sprite/level/animation editors for/on the Nintendo DS available at last. https://sourceforge.net/projects/dsgametools/files/dsgametools/xmas21.zip/download These are the tools as I plan to use them in my next DS game, with more slope angles, more...

    Homebrew Bilou : School Rush

Oops. My 5-year-old found out that I was missing a collision test, preventing him from dispatching those nasty pendats. Since it's easier for me to patch the game than for him to improve his aiming skills, I put the patch online Oh, and btw, I made another gif of it, so that you can at last...

    Homebrew Bilou : School Rush

There we are. The last 'to do' items are completed. You can save your score, you can write your name. School Rush is at last over, after 5 years of development. Have a nice winter. May the source be with you.

    Homebrew Bilou : School Rush

there are only 8 "challengers" (haven't completed the game) scores and 8 "heroes" game. The only reason would be not to trash the SD card with excessive writes (well, the score file being hardly 1 block, it would take you many many games before that happens, I agree).

    Homebrew Bilou : School Rush

Almost done. Do you think it makes sense to offer the option **not** to write scores to the SD card ?

    Homebrew Pushing DS

A few weeks ago, c_boy released a nice puzzle game for the Nintendo DS. Don't let yourself fooled by the presences of boxes to push and dotted squares: this is not your average Sokoban Clone. You can only operate the boxes with mechanical pushers, but you may also push other pushers, or used...

Bubsy gets yet another chance in new game called Bubsy: Paws on Fire

I played 'til the second boss of "Whoolies are back" and I felt boredom almost the whole session, despite I was a fan of the original game. There nothing been done wrong on a technical level, and no blatant flaws in the design, but it all felt generic, uninspired and un-fun.

Comment by 'PypeBros' in 'blog entry 19: new os?'

So far, the best I've found is apt-get-based distros, because it is so much better when you can apt-get source to get exactly what is running on your system, and then apt-get build-dep if you want to hack it and rebuild it yourself. That and having an Enlightenment package is all I ask from the...

    Homebrew Bilou : School Rush

Thank you. I'm at last done with a new build. - you can get 1-UPs by collecting letters. Everytime you get one, the next one will be more "expensive", though. - every loading screen show how long it took you to get there and how far was that "there". - there is a "congratulations" level at the...

    Homebrew SpelunkyDS

no hope for an automated ogg-to-xm (or whatever other tracked format), I'm afraid. If noone ever did this, then indeed, it is not an option :/

great work! and good news that you got the music thing sorted out. If I'm correct, you're using MaxMod. The .XM format should help you getting longer music with fewer bytes: it uses the multi-track abilities of the DS to render music on-the-fly from a set of samples in the file.

Homebrew Tutorials for my game engine

Dsgametools coming along with the libgeds engine feature a level editor, which produce the same kind of arrays that we used when we filled WIDGET_BACKGROUND to lay out the contents of the SpriteSet on screen, captured into a file. The engine use SimpleMap or InfiniMap to bridge those .map files...

Homebrew Tutorials for my game engine

Okay, this time the changes in the script will be very limited. Behold. It's as small as state0 :anim1 { using dpad using momentum(x to 512) using momentum(y to 512) } instead of the sole "state0" line in xdad.cmd and our little character can be moved across the screen again. This...

    btw, reading me back, I'm considering to change the anim<animation-identifier> <page-number> { # ... } syntax with anim<animation-identifier> :page<number> { # ... } That would make the script more human-readable.

@The Real Jdbye, I thought about that and I have blank DVD's and Blurays but honestly after like 90 songs I just listen to it a couple of hundred times toss it out and burn something else or have like 2-3 CD's. Florida here the heat in the car tends to ruin the CD's after like a few months even commercial pressed ones don't last too long.
