    I assumed the padding was to help the module make contact with the motherboard... Does that part heat up that much?

    This problem might have been caused by improperly placed thermal paste at the time. I suspect the area overheated when I placed paste too thick. I'll wait for the repairman to finish his job then reapply minimal thermal paste only. Could heat be a cause of this issue?

    Planning to get a 1 tb card and splitting it between ofw and cfw. I'm already using mtp to install games. But every time I update or want to start cfw from scratch, I felt the need to remove the card... Won't be doing that again 0_o

    Guy I left the switch with does have experience changing the fcp connector and has a multimeter. Hope that's all it takes to fix it. But there's no way to ensure it won't happen again right? Taped down the card reader module on my brother in laws switch to prevent further moving around...

    Are these pins that easy to damage? I wasn't even touching the switch when it happened. Was just installing a few games using the mtp responder on dbi. I don't see any physical damage on the pins so could it be a short?

    Took a proven working card reader from my brother in laws switch and placed it in mine. Same problem... My card reader in his switch has no problem. So guess microsoldering is the next step...

    Sorry forgot to mention i tried with a smaller 64 gb card. And reformatted the 512 gb a few times with different methods (ones that worked before too).
