  Story of how I broke a controller
  I did this in my junior year of highschool.
  
  I had an an off brand controller with terrible stick drift so I took it apart and stuck tissue in the joystick modules and it didn't help
  
  When I put it back together, I bent the gold pieces on the ribbon for the light

  I took apart a Wii controller successfully and it still works
  
  But I broke the transparent color strip by stepping on it
