Smart people talk about polítics, and I want to be smart

Observing the level of political "debate" in this age makes me wonder if IQ equalling your shoesize makes you "smart" nowadays. Or just having the loudest voice.

Are we talking about Ars Technica? (not a gaming site but close enough)

Or one of the many Kotaku/Vice/GamingOnLinux etc?

I haven't seen GBATemp journalism being that bad.

IMNSHO politics (or politics sections) shouldn't exist on sites at all due being more or less hate inducing and in the end counter productive. "We have a political section to keep that stuff in there" is a lame excuse as the induced hate and dislike spills over and has an effect on the whole forum. The comments from staff and mods even make me think it is as intended in here. Shame.

I wasn't here when this was happening, but in the past people brought political shit out into the main forums and they couldn't really do anything to stop it short of just banning discussion of it entirely, which is why the politics board exists.

(continued) I don't think politics belongs on a gaming board either but people are going to bring it up and drawing a fine objective line where it is/isn't okay is hard when sometimes it gets blurred with events surrounding certain game releases, where it might actually be relevant.
