As in, Skyrim doesn't have breakable weapons or shields, yet I still find myself switching between magicka, bow, one-handed and two-handed frequently, depending on the situation, and the compass bar at the top helps me find new dungeons or landmarks, something BotW/TotK noticeably lacks. You can also strengthen and enchant gear in Skyrim, but not in BotW/TotK.

Anyway, I haven't touched Tamriel in around seven years according to Steam, so...yeah, got no real memories of my previous playthrough; this will be almost brand-new to me, which is nice.

I put more time into Oblivion so maybe I am wrong, but I thought TES weapons/armor did need to be repaired from time to time

 Sounds like Skyrim has a pretty huge Game Map to play on. js

What BotW/TotK could've done instead of have durability and still give a purpose to the frequent weapon and shield drops would be letting you combine 2 pieces of same type gear into a more powerful version. That would've been a lot more fun as well.

Or perhaps keep the durability mechanic, but make it so you can combine the buffs and durability of two same type weapons/shields and also granting you extra durability, similar to how Minecraft does it. It would go a long way to reducing inventory clutter and also greatly reduce how often you need to switch weapons, without affecting the balance of the gameplay much.

It would also give more purpose to some of the low durability but decent damage weapons in the game, which personally I tend to discard often because they drop so frequently from moblins and such but their low durability makes them not worth taking up inventory slots.

@x65943 Nope, no durability. The only thing akin to it is weapon enchantments, as they only have so many charges before needing to be recharged (or re-enchanted, if it completely runs out). Armour enchantments, meanwhile, are infinite.
