I've had success ripping SecuROM with a GDR-8163B on "Test Drive Unlimited".

This is about involuntary(!) hobby of mine: Looking if people understand their job/profession. More often than not, one can easily see that people don't understand anything about what they are doing; despite being payed for it.

Are there perhaps corrupt sectors? More than that I can't tell you.

Not sure. Best to look for the game ID on Redump, and it might tell you. Other than that, it might possibly be bad sectors.

Of course there are masses of bad sectors here (unable to install game). Normally you can't see it if a disc is still readable without trying. On Sims 3 I could see it.
Different example: The scanner made the DVD look "better" than it was. In reality it looked MUCH worse.

Cheap scanners don't tend to scan the shiny surface correctly. Don't know why.
