I think the point of believing in God is simply that you choose to believe in him, that you accept him without finding him. The so called faith.

Believe in me, I am a God!

Nietzsche never said that as far as I am aware. He said:
“The youthful Jew of the stock exchange is the most repugnant invention of the whole human race.”

If you want to know lived Christianity read your Kierkegaard, not Nietzsche: the bad end he came to summarizes his thought and is its inevitable outcome.

If you think about reading anything, read Nietzsche.

Nietzsche is dangerous for adolescents and those who have emotional and socialization problems: he instills hatred for the other, contempt for ordinary people, the arrogance of the know-it-all philologist who has lived immersed in books, brooding constantly stumbles and wants to preach to those who instead live life to the fullest between work, family and social duties.

Nietzsche has identified the downfall of christianity at his time and accuratly located the need for a spiritual project, in a way where others completely failed. You can moralise about Nietzsche all you want, but his is the only game in town. He had the foundation to make the first steps to reconnect with the greeks/romans and understood that a new man will have to come. It's inevitable.

I'm sorry for paraphrasing, he may not have said that exactly, but "ecce homo" is full of rants about the evil of christianity

If you really want to read Nietzsche, at least avoid Ecce Homo, Antichrist and the posthumous fragments, all result of his incipient madness, which finally exploded with his famous embrace of the horse (evidently mistaken for his "ubermensch") ..... LOL.

Fight a horse with bare hands and you will learn what is real.
