Did you finish The Guide (finalizing setup)? Homebrew Launcher should be available right on Home Menu.
Please do not skip anything.

Then do I have to install the others as well? I thought these were sufficient. I should have followed an older guide where only Homebrew Launcher had to be installed.

:nayps3:
Now I prefer to do workout....💪
Later maybe....if I feel like it.....🙄

Userland homebrew access isn't very reliable (especially when updating the console to latest firmware which you should to ensure compatibility with all games). It could have worked with the low firmware to only load emulators. (Not installing B9S at all).
There is a reason why the stuff on The Guide is there. It is proven to work about a million times. Some of it is safety precaution (NAND backup, essentials backup).

B9S uses a boot time exploit that is loaded milliseconds after turning on the power. The Holy Grail of console modding. Think of B9S as bootloader. Instead of the usual bootloader, B9S is started. The custom bootloader loads boot.firm usually Luma3DS, which patches the OS while loading it -- adding features and removing anti-features.

The homebrew titles have to be added afterwards.

The only real modification to the system is already done with installing B9S. Virtually everything that can go wrong (such things can happen even on unmodded consoles!) can be repaired when having this.
Installing a few titles to SD will do no harm.

And as the Backup Reminder, I have to insist on using GodMode9 for dumping the NAND.

Good luck and have fun!

There are already problems. I installed everything except godmode9.
I installed Homebrew Launcher, start snes9x, select a game and everything freezes. I force shutdown. I launch Eduke32 but it gives error and freezes everything, as in the picture. How come?

What the…? That is not supposed to happen!
Please rule out any possible problems with the SD. The usual thing: backup the data and check the SD with h2testw.
Try another SD as well.

:!: You shouldn't be messing around with a 3DS while not having a backup :!:
Not running GodMode9 is a risk. Note that NAND backup only makes sense on checked SD.

If you can't get it to work, please open a thread in the 3DS section.

I should point out that I have not updated the system software, because I thought it was unnecessary, and I should connect to the Internet. Could the problem depend on this?

Very low firmware version can indeed be a problem since not all Luma3DS patches work. v4.x should mostly work though (at least it did two years ago).

Please run h2testw on your SD and backup the NAND. I will not continue discussing the topic otherwise. Sorry, if this sounds harsh or rude (unintended!), I won't take the responsibility of giving any advise without a safety net.

Off-topic: Doing a temporary drug withdrawal: Can't get to sleep easily. I have to turn off the monitor soon for today. I would to systematic tests with low firmware versions, but that requires my main computer and some hours. Not possible today.

I will update the system first. If it still won't work, I will check the SD card (new and branded !!!). But is it still possible to update 3ds software online?

I updated the console software (it took more than half an hour!!!) and now Snes9x works, but Eduke32 gives me the same error, but it no longer locks the 3ds and I can exit to 3ds menu. Better than before. 😉

Update: It seems that in Duke3d's thread some users reported the same error. I asked if anyone had found a solution...
Hopefully someone, moved by pity, will respond to me. 😅

"If it still won't work, I will check the SD card (new and branded !!!)"
That is certainly the wrong order. New means nothing → manufacturing defects. Branded means nothing → fake SDs get known names printed on.
Nobody feels like verifying an SD for multiple hours.

Not surprising that latest Homebrew Launcher and some homebrew software won't work on low firmware versions (there is no reason to stay on low version once B9S) is installed.
The update taking long is expected as well: From a very low version to latest, it has to download many, many system titles. Neither the WiFi, nor the 3DS as such is very fast.
