Why exalt only Apollo, and not also Hades? Light needs darkness to exist, health needs disease to emerge. Without opposite poles overpowering each other and imposing themselves in turn, reality would be .................................... static, inert, dead.
In other words, light can heal if one is sunk and lost in darkness. Otherwise, an excess of light, for those already flooded with it, can blind them. "In medio stat virtus."
Let's start with the esoteric level. The romans seem to have viewed the foreign parts of the empire as neccesary parts, by giving their gods such a fundamental role. A gesture of quite amazing tolerance on the spiritual level at least. Compare this to the monotheistic god(s) of the abrahamic religions and it's a harsh contrast.
Moving forward to the Matrix movie, the sun is completly blocked out. A world without sun, a world without romans. Quite sobering thought to be portrayed like this.
Now exoteric we see that the romans are indeed no more in power, infact they are increasingly seeing themselves in a exsistential struggle. While this is happening you see the world increasingly becoming decadent and falling into chaos (iron age/kali yuga).
At the moment it is important for the good of all the world, to bring back natural order (Apollo). So this is the focus for now. As soon as this is established enough, it is time to think of ways to incorporate the different parts into this.
Here it is important to reinvent the lunar gods. The first lunar adopters of the natural order should be taken in as mercurials. But in the long run they must take a form that ensures the natural order in a lasting manner.
