Maybe for supporting small developers; Obtaining games before there is no legal way anymore.

FOMO is a hell of a drug.
I'm surprised Nintendo doesn't take advantage of that by offering all of their first party titles for $200 as a last minute firesale, they'd make a fortune off all the crazy collectors out there.
