They were tortured and pushed down, and their natural reaction was to put themselves up over the whites. That's the problem, it was innocent, but now it's a vicious circle. If anyone's wondering about context, it's that speak where blacks sing soulfully, have done amazing things, speak from the heart, etc. These are things that are common to the society, not to the colour.

The whole issue here is drawing circles around factors and making identifications with what comes out of your nature as a consequence, not identifying with who you actually are, but the things that define you. That's the cause of all of this mess. Division, war, and unnecessary fights...; identification with the definitions instead of the source of them.

On some points I agree.

"I don't like some black people. Cause they think they're somehow better, not the same"
Never heard of such a thing. This itself sounds like prejudice to me....

I fully agree with that. Very mature and commendable reasoning. Language and categories (if taken as reality) are paradoxically sources of order but also of chaos.

Well it is not so obvious but it's there. It is not uncommon for anybody to feel superior to someone else. In a similar fashion, a black man who has gone through a lot or has a family that has, would look to his best redeeming qualities and feel better than a white person, to help with the putting down of his kind. Just recently I saved a beautiful song of a black man, but his album cover said "black is golden".

This in psychoanalysis is called "compensation mechanism" for a "sense of inferiority" (felt more or less unconsciously) and applies in many cases among all peoples.

Then perhaps it is prejudice, maybe I see it more in such people cause it stands out due to these current ideas that are commonly circulated regarding racism. :)
Jiehfeng
Thanks for that.

Changing the subject, would the "netti netti" on your profile be the sanskrit "neti neti" (neither this nor that) from Upanishad?

<===== Has experienced racism, and homophobia all his life. Most the time he had to stand up n fight for his right to Be. Now sadly, he has to just take it as an old man with a walker.

@Nikokaro Yes haha, glad someone noticed. The other day I actually wondered if you noticed it, I was sure if you saw it you would immediately recognize it. Funny thing is it's related to identification. :P

@AncientBoi Although things are better now in the world than they were in the past, prejudice against someone will never go away. When men come together in groups, they do their worst and back each other up, where the individual hides and loses reason and responsibility.

If you come from and reside in the "neti neti" (Brahman), I suppose that soon you will retire to live in the woods like an ancient rishi/yoghi....But do not forget your console, you know, to pass the time....:rofl2:
