Yeah, in the 3DS games (XY, ORAS, Sun/Moon, Ultra Sun/Moon) - ever since they "upgraded" to the Switch, they've removed the EXP Share toggle whilst leaving in the shared-EXP mechanic.
Sure, Let's Go is meant to be simpler and easier for the GO audience to get into, but Sword/Shield? BDSP? Why them too?
Junichi Masuda, the Director of ORAS, said in an interview (when asked about the lower difficulty), "everyone is very busy and young people have various means of entertainment" and "the time they dedicate to a single game is less than in the past", and when asked why the Frontier was left out, he replied, "This question is connected with my previous answer. We didn't put the BF in ORAS for this very reason".
And since the current director, Shigeru Ohmori, was trained by Masuda, is it any surprise the Frontier didn't make it into Sword/Shield? Why the EXP Share was removed, yet shared-EXP wasn't?
And Masuda returned as co-Director of BDSP, which explains why the same issues persist across all the Switch games.
Not able to use all moves, a complete lack of meaningful innovation, removal of EXP Share and Battle Frontier, lower difficulty overall, not being anywhere near as innovative as HGSS were...
Masuda's ideas have become damaging to the series; we need someone new in charge.
You feel very strongly about this. You need to accept that the newer Pokemon games just aren't worth your time and either stick to romhacks or find another series to play.
@Mike_Hunt That's what I've been doing, though - back in the DS days, I was a huge Pokemon fan, and I didn't play too much else. When the 3DS rolled around and XY was the first major drop in quality, I started branching out a lot more than previously - Fire Emblem Awakening, Bravely Default, Ace Attorney, Professor Layton, and such.
I also played romhacks, like SacredGold and BlazeBlack (2), and even did some personal edits of said romhacks, and made my own personal 3DS romhacks - I've played the old greats countless times.
It just pains me to see a series I loved so much as a child become so appallingly mediocre, y'know? Keep repeating the exact same flaws over and over again.
@Plazorn Exactly - in an interview about LGPE, Masuda stated, "then we tried to think about how kids these days generally play games, what came to mind was mobile games really. Games which you play for a short time, and perhaps you’ll be moving between various games pretty quickly. ...
And in this age with so many games to choose from, we thought that we’d rather make something that was easier to progress through, and kind of tailor that playstyle to how we think that the playstyle has evolved over the years and how children are playing games now"
Notice how they mentioned MOBILE GAMES and KIDS - but that's only LGPE.
In an interview with Ishihara, about the then-unknown 2019 games, he stated, "It is not an entry game, but a game that we want longtime fans of the Pokémon series to look forward to." - which definitely wasn't the case, what with the permanent EXP. Share, lack of Pokemon, and extreme handholding.
And when asked about why the EXP. Share was removed from Sword/Shield, Ohmori stated, "We came to the realization that the vast majority of players played the games with the Exp. Share left on at all times. When thinking of why players would want to turn it off, we thought it would primarily be to give Exp. Points to only one of the Pokémon in your party...
...We felt the same result could be achieved by players simply limiting the number of Pokémon in their party to one. That would be a more intuitive way to limit Exp. Point gains for most players."
Which, even IF the part about the "vast majority" of players left it on was true, doesn't mean it should be taken away for other people!
And then the argument that "if you only want one Pokemon to gain experience, have a party of one duuuuhhhh"...yeah, that's just idiotic, because then you cannot switch between Pokemon mid-battle, and if that one Pokemon faints (poison, unlucky crit, etc.) then you black out and and are punted back to the last Pokemon Center. OHMORI SHOULD'VE KNOWN THIS ARGUMENT WAS DUMB.
Yes, it is that, and they expect that kids do not seem to be as smart as they were in the days of Red and Blue. They think even if they did make a harder Pokémon game, the kid would give up almost immediately. And kids like to talk, spreading how ‘difficult’ the game is, lowering Pokémon’s image in the company’s eyes.
While veterans like ourselves suffer from ridiculous easiness…
It also ruins the concept of adventuring with a "party" of Pokemon, having to store them in boxes to avoid party-wide EXP, and it's a needless hassle that could've been rectified by keeping the EXP Share toggle! Should've been fixed in a patch for Sword/Shield, or at least in BDSP, but...nooope, fuck you and your preferred play style! Play the games how WE want them to be played!
@SylverReZ I've never used a disposable, seems like a waste. kinda cool idea tho. It would be nice to have vape built in to a cell phone even. "The iVape"
only ps5 updated to latest firmware can go on psn, jailbroken ones just don't use psn or they risk getting flagged or banned, altho spouting profanity in online play alredy does that
