The trailer (the ones I saw) make it look like he was a loser who decides to grow a pair as part of some midlife crisis, and kinda overcompensates from there. And it's at least in part a family drama or something.
The movie itself, turns out he's some sort of retired Terminator. And the "John Wick" comment is a dead giveaway.
