@Chary: Technically you're right since Android is made by Google. The core (open source) operating system is not the problem though. I'm talking about anything with "Google" in the name installed as "System App". I've zero trust in devices having Google services installed.
To answer your question: It became a very fast reacting pocket computer (which I have *a little* trust in) running LineageOS and neither Google nor Sony stuff – with cellphone functionality. Kiwi browser, VLC media Player, epub reader, scientific calculator, offline todo list, clock.
It's astonishing how much speedup and/or battery life increase you get just by removing the always-on Google crap.
The sad part is that sometimes you can't just do it yourself, because the OEM has caked the Google crap into the ROM too much, so removing it will softbrick the device :/
