    It is hard to pin point where the name came. Indigenous people would call the land Chili (which has never meant chili the hot vegetable for them) . And also there was a bird called Chili, because that is the noise it made. That's all I got hahahha

    Thank you for replying; I had never heard about the bird before, or about the Chilean Indigenous peoples. Quite interesting; maybe they named the land after the bird?

    Probably, but you never know! Maybe they had a few Mayan friends from Mexico one day as guests, but no, that's a bad joke I will not continue hahhhaha
