I broke the home button connector off my new 3ds (not xl) motherboard some time ago. I was trying to solder a workaround into place and attached some magnet wire to the capacitor (circled in red below) according to recommendations in a thread that I cannot link because I'm a new member.
Being new to this, I made the mistake of not gluing or taping the end of the wire after I soldered it, and it the capacitor lifted from the board when I nudged it.
I kept the length of wire that still had the capacitor soldered to the end, grabbed a pair of tweezers to get a better grip on it before attempting to resolder it to the board, and then it flew out of my tweezers into the shadow realm. I spent two hours crawling around on the floor trying to find it, but I don't think it'll ever show up.
I'd rather not buy a whole new motherboard just to replace one capacitor on a ds that otherwise works fine. If someone with a n3ds/n3dsxl and a multimeter could open theirs up real quick and find the capacitance, I could order a replacement and try again
Additionally, if anyone has any pointers for helping me clean up the mess of solder where the home button connector used to be, I would be happy to hear them!
