A new entrypoint for Switch 2 homebrew has just been released, though you should probably move quickly if you want to pick it up for yourself.

CivSwitch offers a new offline entrypoint for Switch 2 homebrew

May the good times continue in the Switch 2 homebrew scene! Released today by developer Gezine, CivSwitch offers a new entrypoint for homebrew on the system, this time making use of a physical Switch game in Civilization VII.

CivSwitch Readme said:
XSS toolchain for the Switch 1 edition of Civilization 7.
Only the 1.0.0 version of the game in physical cartridge is supported.

Two components:
  • PicoSwitch — clean, compilable Pico firmware (RP2040 + RP2350) that types a chat-XSS payload into the Switch (USB HID macro).

Default payload = the Remote JS Loader bootstrap (exploit core + TCP loader).

Ships with compress.js (chat transport: terser -> deflateRaw -> base-25 chunked img/onerror lines with censor armor).

  • installer-creator — given any JavaScript payload, produces the boot-persistent installer (XSTRIG.Civ7Save trigger written to savedata) to send through the Remote JS Loader

Gezine shows the exploit running in a tweet shared alongside the download.

Those interested should move quickly if previous exploits relying on physical games are anything to go by. At the time of writing the game remains fairly readily available in the UK around the £30 mark.

Will a pico2 will really be a must ? this exploit maybe gets forks to use a switch1 or a normal raspberry maybe ?

anything that can emulate a keyboard will work. So a switch 1 should work, or a raspbery pi with that piDucky project

I plan to port it to my AIO esp32 S3 firmware

It should be emphasised this (in a lot of cases? or all?) does not require updating the Switch 2 to latest firmware as it was tested on 22.5.0, according to the readme.

I wouldn't worry about it considering Picos are relatively cheap to get (and very useful for other hacking projects). However, as pointed out previously, as long as it works like a keyboard and can type like a keyboard, it's going to work if you adjust accordingly. Considering it's just a macro, I'd imagine there is already a project that lets you do that if you just copy the JS payload into it.

Also, since it was not linked in OP:

If we have smile basic 4 demo, no interest?
I have my doubts that SmileBASIC 4's demo would be of interest due to the exploit sometimes crashing, some reports of bricks, and the process to setup the exploit is finicky. So really, it's pointless. I'm glad that there's other exploits that involve physical carts since you don't need to update.

A mig flash is also an option
Only problem is that you need a backup of your physical cart. Connecting the Switch 2 to the internet whilst having a pirated copy on a MIG flashcart is asking for trouble.

As far as I can tell, pointless. There is already a working exploit with fs access for SmileBASIC, as for this it just appears to be means of running JS payloads without much else to show. It may be possible to achieve the same with this as an entry point, but only time will tell.

Are there physical reprints of the game that go beyond v1.0? Asking because I don't want to buy it only to find out it's unusable. I have SmileBASIC on my Switch 2 and the Seedsow Lullaby demo with the save setup from my Sw1 and transferred over, but I wouldn't mind having another avenue.
