Gah. Using Discord to distribute software is cancer. Nope.
I disagree, discord is awesome and a great place for projects to thrive. Not everyone wants to open a domain website, as that costs money. Discord is free, and allows for discussions.

Showcasing projects is fine, but hosting downloads to your projects on Discord is not. Remember, Discord has temporary URLs that expire in 24-hours, and forcing people to sign up to a platform that has "spyware" written all over it may not be the best choice. Preferably, put it on GitHub or Archive.org.

Seems like a false dichotomy. The alternative to Discord isn't paying for a domain for your project. There's plenty of free services which offer discussions and also are searchable. Like Reddit. Reddit isn't great but it's a hell of a lot better than Discord. Especially with the Direction discord is going.

Exactly, like mods too, there's someone called Portable Productions who only hosts their mods on Discord and I think that's stupid cause like "why?" If you're gonna release something don't let it be on only Discord

Reminder that github is free BTW.

No DashLaunch plugin support fucking sucks, this whole softmod was the reason I bought a trinity to use this + ReLive to have essentially a blades console, now this?

Man, now I don't even fuckin want this softmod. I'll stick with BadAvatar 1.3.
You've essentially lost nothing. Grimdoomer and Shutterbug2000 already made a solution for people like us and it works well. ABadAvatar 1.3+XeUnshackle MAX with autoboot enabled will be consistently faster on boot than PeerPressure anyways. And since you have plugin support already the Xbox360auto DNS plugin will remove the need for unplugging/replugging ethernet or turning off wifi so you can always keep stealth on.

Pfff, blocking stealth... This guy just wants everyone's Xbox getting banned...

I'm highly against cheaters aswell, but there are legit players aswell that don't want to get their console banned, even when they don't play online. There are online leaderboards in games.

Maybe Grim can do some anti-cheat that disables all the mods and hacks for games that have leaderboards and online.

Immediately lost my interest when he said he would disallow Xbox Live stealth plugins. Very passive-aggressively.

I don't cheat. I have to make unlicensed copies because my 360 purchases on my Microsoft account do not work properly, and my disc drive is broken. A stealth server is the only way I can play these games online. I also prefer playing them with a Dualshock 4.

I really do not like that Grim dismissed any valid use case for using a stealth service, as if he's my personal Xbox cop and it makes cheating any more difficult. A reverse engineer of all people should know how stupid this is.

I'll keep using BadUpdate 1.2 to NOT cheat. Thanks.
Why not BadUpdate 1.3? It's faster and more reliable. It's all I can use since I have a Carona model.

I just never got around to updating since it works well enough as-is.

Never use video tutorials. Software changes faster and in subtler ways than Youtubers have time to keep up with, text documentation is easy to edit and recycle between versions. In other words the information will be outdated as soon as the release hype is over.

Also in my experience, even Youtubers who do this for a living will suggest insane shit that makes no sense and causes problems. I have had to share my pacman mirrors lists with people and walk them through a transfer from a spare computer because Youtubers told them to delete all their mirrors when installing EndeavourOS to "make software install faster".

That's a waste of time and he wouldn't have any room left to actually develop the software.

Canithesis Git (mine), Codeberg, GitLab, srcht, sourceforge, etc.
Half of them suck balls but the point is there are options besides Microsoft's.

This is bullshit.

I know people who have their own domain + VPS that runs their everything and it costs them less than their Spotify subscription.

If you are using version control software like every developer should be, then you already have a better place to host your software. Usually FOR FREE.
