Hi all, hoping someone can spot what I'm missing.
Background:- NTSC-U Wii, homebrewed by previous owner, bought yesterday.- Deleted the existing Homebrew Channel to install a newer one, download/reinstall was interrupted (forced power-off).- Now stuck at Preloader v0.28. Preloader shows: IOS v30, Systemmenu v289.
Symptoms:- "Systemmenu" option → Error autobooting systemmenu! Could not open boot file.- "Homebrew Channel" option → Error autobooting HBC, maybe title not installed?- "Load/Install File" (before SD had anything on it) → Could not open file / couldn't find executable.- No BootMii as boot2 (held Reset+Power, no blue screen).
What I've tried:
- Got YAWM (ModMii Edition) booting fine from SD root via Preloader's Load/Install File.
- Downloaded RVL-WiiSystemmenu-v289.wad via NUSD — installing it via YAWM gives: "This Title wants IOS30 but the installed version is a stub."
- Downloaded IOS30-64-v2816.wad (unpatched) via ModMii's Advanced Downloads (User-Defined) — installing gives ERROR! (ret = -999).
- Re-downloaded IOS30 with -FS patch — installing gives ERROR! (ret = -1) at "Installing ticket" step.
- Re-downloaded IOS30 with -FS -NP patches — same ret = -1 ticket error.
- Tried running YAWM under both IOS249 and IOS250 (cIOS slots shown by YAWM's boot screen) — same ticket error both times.
So it seems like System Menu, HBC, AND IOS30 are all missing/stubbed on this NAND, and now the cIOS (249/250) itself might not have proper ES_Identify/trucha bug patches to install ANY ticket, regardless of the WAD's own patches.
Questions:
1. Does the ret=-1 on ticket install point to the cIOS on the console being the actual problem (not the WAD)?
2. Is there a way to check/verify which cIOS versions and patches are actually installed on this NAND from Preloader/YAWM without a working System Menu?
3. Given no BootMii as boot2, is a WAD-based recovery still realistic here, or is this NAND corruption too extensive for a software fix?
Happy to post more error screenshots if useful. Thanks in advance.
