I saw. Jesus fucking Christ. I hope someone can mod Pokemon bank to be offline. Even if it doesn’t do shit post gen 7, having the flair and connectivity with pre that would be serviceable for me.

Either way, this fucking sucks, end of a 23 year era.

Time to crack open PKSM…

I'm surprised it even lasted this long. A substantial portion of the userbase is probably using units with CFW installed.

There's nothing you can do with it "offline" that you can't already do just as easily with PKSM.

Of course it is. Because Nintendo hates preservation
The one company still committed to physical releases? And let's be clear: The Pokemon company has three owners, and is not just owned by Nintendo. Save your Nintendo hate for the next time they go after organized criminals with a justified lawsuit.

The reason I think the reason Pokémon company is doing this is that sooner or later other gens are going to appear in the shop.

so gen 3 will be on the switch 1
gen 4 maybe gen 5 on the switch 2 as rumours are saying.

Quick cash grab

Should be a way to connect 3ds to switch and transfer pokemon like all other generations. Well it was a long time coming. Is there a homebrew that does a similar thing? I m currently working on a living pokedex on PokeBank and I want preserve it after the service close

So glad I been using pksm. The shutdown doesn't really affect those with a hacked 3ds/switch1. But if you have anything in pokebank it needs to be cleared out. Pkhex will be even more important for mystery gifted mons and such

I mean, it's on their machine, not yours. The server is not free, and if you don't trust Nintendo, you don't give them the only copy of your data. This is a fact of life and barely a preservation issue.

Trading up to newer generations is trivial functionality to gain back for anyone reading this thread.

I literally don’t store my stuff on their servers anymore. I’ve long given up on the Big N. What’s annoying is that this is yet another service Nintendo is killing off, making it harder for people to transfer their Pokemon out of older games (without mods).
It’s worth noting, I hate this kind of shit no matter what company pulls it. Without any legal alternatives, they are just telling their customers to kick rocks. Want to play the old Pokemon games? Want to transfer games from those games? Tough shit. Games cost a fuck ton of money and the “official methods” don’t exist anymore. But don’t you dare pirate our games and hack your systems! That shit is sad stuff

The problem is every Pokemon that comes though Pokemon Home from the 3DS gets tagged with a unique tracking ID, so if you bypass Home and use PKHeX to directly import these Pokemon in a Gen 8/9 game they will always be hacks as far as Pokemon Home is concerned. So you are risking your account by letting anything migrated unofficially touch Home or using them in online play sometime in the future.

Mass surveillance for Pokemon essentially.
