I just installed windows 11 just to try out official Xbox emulation. It runs well, had my fun, but I was curious to see if there was anything to poke around internally.

Yes there was. Background.png is a placeholder graphic, as the Xbox emulator has a menu for you to adjust options before you start gaming, and there is custom art for the game. You can load whatever art you want if you replace the background_launcher.png in the contents folder of the game, or edit the EmuMenuLaunchArguments.txt in the emumenu folder.

XboxFluent2.TFF is in the assets folder, in a fonts folder (except this is the only font available). I don't know if this is just straight up the same font as the Xbox dashboard, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is.

BootAnim.mp4 is also probably the same asset used as the console version of the Xbox emulator, as the metadata is still in tact, showing a media creation date of may 2017.

Resources.resw has all the error strings, as well as comments to describe the error in detail. Interestingly, the errors say XBOX in all caps, while the comment says Xbox, like how it used to be. I only checked the en-us strings, I don't feel like parsing through all the languages.

"</data>
<data name="IDS_ORIGINAL_XBOX_LIVE_TEXT" xml:space="preserve">
<value>XBOX Live features are no longer available for this game.</value>
<comment>Text describing that Xbox Live features for original Xbox games are no longer available</comment>"

I really hope someone who owns another supported game in this program checks through their installed files to see if there's anything else I haven't seen yet.

Those are some pretty interesting finds. I always wonder if companies fully develop their own custom official emulators and how much they take from open source alternatives that have existed for a long time. It seems confusing to me why these companies feel the need to remake emulators when the open source community has already put in the work.

this one's xefu based, which predates xenia and xemu, since it's a highly modified version of what they used on the xbox 360, then ported to the xbox one.
there's even various xex files regarding the fact it's xefu, so there's likely very little actual community emulator involvement with this and is probably entirely first party

it even uses the same cloud saves as their xbox one versions, i still have my blinx and conker saves
