MagicCon, the convention celebrating the iconic trading card game Magic: The Gathering, is underway in Amsterdam from July 17-19. During the event, publisher Wizards of the Coast announced upcoming sets, products and events for the game.

Of note for video game fans is a Stardew Valley crossover. The upcoming Superdrop of the Moonlight Jellies features rare alternate art cards inspired by Stardew Valley. It includes Stardew Valley, a new-to-Magic land card with art from Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe that's legal in Commander, Legacy, and Vintage.

Wizards also revealed that the next iteration of Mystery Booster, coming later this year, will be the Commander Edition designed for Commander draft. The first sneak peek will be at GenCon.

A roundup of the sets and events announced during MagicCon can be found below.

In-universe sets:
  • Reality Fracture: launching October 2, 2026 to conclude the story arc that began in Wilds of Eldraine three years ago. It follows Jace Beleren’s endeavour to reshape the Multiverse into his ideal vision. Fans can expect to see some of their favorite characters – including Chandra and Garruk – return in twisted, unique ways. This set will include Secret Lair Bundles.
  • Nauctis: The Sunken Realm: a brand-new multi-year story arc that introduces players to Nauctis, Magic’s take on an undersea plane. Releasing February 5, 2027.

  • Kamigawa: Titanbreach: a clash between the two Magic planes, Ikoria and Kamigawa. Releases on June 4, 2027.

  • Zhalfir: The kingdom of Zhalfir has reentered the Multiverse as its own plane. Taking inspiration from the afrofantasy genre, this new plane harnesses innovative new forms of magic and, correspondingly, features mind-bending cards. This set releases on October 1, 2027.

Universes Beyond sets:
  • Magic: The Gathering | The Hobbit: this set brings players back to Middle-earth. It features characters such as Gandalf, Bilbo and Smaug. In-store events kick off August 8.

I feel like getting featured in MtG and Fortnite at this point is kind of a cultural dead end for any franchise. It's not even exciting, it's just "alright whatever another checkmark for the owners I guess".
The funny thing is that in the past (Peak MTG) I would use token creatures as other TCG cards. Boi I didn't see any of this crossover stuff coming. Might aswell add anime into the melting pot. At least Lord of the Rings made sense.

I dont play, but ill buy a pack every here and there. IF they ever release a Witcher series MTG, ill buy that ish up.

I honestly want a secret lair after so long, just for the stardew cards because I love ConcernedApe's art. It's too bad it puts money in hasbro's pocket.

It's gonna be Wizard School for one of those unannounced UB sets. I just know it. I really should just sell all my decks now while I'm ahead. MTG has made me so many new awesome queer friends that I love dearly that I wouldn't be able to.

That Stardew Valley card will help with my [Illusions of Grandeur Ice Age] type cards though

Did MtG just have a dart board full of ips, and this is what it landed on?

Spider Man, Ezio, Optimus Prime, Godzilla, and Captain Kirk sit down at a table and start playing cards.

Oh wait sorry I was mistaken, they're not playing anything, I'm just at my buddy's house playing Commander and our decks are starting to look less and less like MTG
