Hi GBAtemp! Long-time reader, finally made an account.

I write small offline homebrew for the PSP under the name AAhead — native C on the GU, no SDL, no accounts, nothing phones home. Trying to make stuff that feels first-party on the real 480×272 screen.

Two apps are at a first public build:

  • a calm EPUB/TXT/CBZ reader — portrait or landscape, themes, bookmarks, per-book resume, CBZ comics with zoom
  • an XMB-style music player — MP3/M4A/WAV/FLAC, album art, audiobooks, and a pocket mode that keeps playing with the screen off
I'm still a Newbie here so I can't post links yet — I'll drop the downloads + checksums in a proper release thread once I hit Newcomer. For now, here are a couple of shots running on a real PSP (attached).

Glad to be here — happy to answer questions and take feature requests in the meantime.

Fair comparison! But SensMe's mood "channels" were built by Media Go / SonicStage on PC, and Sony discontinued both years ago — so that part's a dead pipeline now. AAhead Music isn't a remake: it plays your MP3s like SensMe did, and adds native FLAC/M4A/WAV, audiobooks with resume, a sleep timer and a screen‑off pocket mode. Single EBOOT on 6.61/ARK‑4, nothing extra. If folks miss the channel idea, I could do a small offline version later.
