I found someone selling a 7.61 PS5 for $500 but would I be better served by a PC if I want to play some PC games? There are only a few indie exclusives and some mods for Skyrim that I want to play at the moment, but I'm sure the list will expand to include some modern titles.

I don't care about upgrades or repairs, so which is my best option in terms of performance?

You aint gonna find a PC thats as capable as a PS5 for 500 bucks so id say thats a good deal unless you willing to double that and get a gaming PC for 1k

Buy the PS5, setup Linux on it, have the best of both worlds ;)
I don't get the appeal of spending twice as much so PS5 it is. Linux is what I was aiming for with the 7.61 PS5, so I pray it's stable enough to leave on 24/7 because the process looks a bit involved.

It's not much involved at all once everything is setup. You're essentially just flashing a USB drive with a live image, running Y2JB, push the Lapse payload, push the Linux loader payload, do typical first time OS setup (and optionally move the Linux install to an M.2 if you want faster load times) and then that's it, from then on you just run Y2JB->Lapse->Linux loader whenever you want to swap to Linux. Super simple, I did it this morning on my 7.61 PS5 while I was dicking around at work ^_^
