Is the RetroFighters "Hunter" the best wireless controller for original Xbox?

I've got an old Logitech Xbox controller from back in the day, but the dongle is missing. I could buy a replacement (used) dongle on eBay, but with tax and shipping, feels like money that could be spent on something new & better. Retrofighters Hunter looks good. Is it??

I only used one at a retro meeting and it felt like a good controller. But I don't know how the durability is in the long term. On my own Xbox OG's I still use original wired controllers.

I still have at least one of the original, HUGE Duke wired controllers, and at least one of the "S" controllers that were originally designed for the Japan market but later got sold everywhere. But one thing I've really gotten spoiled on is wireless controllers.

I'm not even dealing with my old Xbox just yet (purchased new, hasn't been used in over 15 years, never modded) but that day is coming. This year's winter project maybe.

I know the RetroFighters controller for N64 is well liked - maybe eclipsed now by the 8bitdo but still, good reviews and etc.

I have the Hunter one and I quite like it. It works well and feels decent. So far it has held up well like their other products, but I also haven't exactly put hundreds of hours onto it yet.
But the parts they used are good quality so the thing shouldn't wear out any time soon.

I have both "duke" and "S" controllers. The problem with one of my "duke" is that the plastic is getting brittle, even turning a screw breaks it. And there are no replacement stick caps for them, so I avoid using them too much.

For the "S" controller new stick caps are easily to get and the plastic is still it good condition.

I like wired controllers more because they simply won't have a empty battery  I don't play video games very often, wireless controllers have the tendency to be not charged when I want to use them.

Yeah the Dukes are getting extremely brittle, I had 3 of them just completely shatter in transit.

Personally I like the wireless ones more because they aren't tripping hazards, and I solved the empty battery problem for me by having one of those corded Anker USB chargers taped to the side of my couch, and a bunch of 2 to 3m charging cables nearby. If anything needs a charge I can just reach over and continue playing, all while the cable is out of the way.

Retro fighters has been in a slow decline. I was hyped for the Hunter. They’re garbage for anything involving accurate movement. Awful for shooters like Halo due to their terrible inner and outer deadzones. There’s also a hint of input latency. Even after an update, the diagonals are still janky. I own three, and wouldn’t even make my 6 year old suffer using one.
