Hi,
I published a video exploring whether Wii games can benefit from CPU overclocking when running in vWii mode on Wii U. The key element tested here is the use of C2Wpatcher, which allows the Wii U to effectively run vWii mode with a higher CPU frequency than stock settings (commonly referred to as a “vWii overclock”).

The results show that performance improvements are very game-dependent: some titles, especially CPU-bound or multiplayer modes, can see noticeable gains, while others remain GPU-limited.

This thread is mainly intended to go beyond my own tests and gather a wider set of community results. If you’ve experimented with Wii games on Wii U using C2Wpatcher, overclock-related tweaks, or performance comparisons, feel free to share your findings.

In parallel, there is also an interesting topic for developers working on Wii U injection tools. Today, creating Wii U-compatible Wii forwarders that properly support C2W patches is still mostly limited to tools like TeconMoon’s injector. I hope this video can help demonstrate the real-world usefulness of vWii CPU overclocking and potentially encourage ZestyTS (UWUVCI, currently v3.200) to consider adding support for the Wii U ANCAST KEY for Wii titles in future updates. Concrete evidence of the benefits of this kind of optimization, so additional community benchmarks could be valuable.

Also, the video is dubbed in English using **Coqui TTS (XTTS)**. The result isn’t perfect, but it should still be easier to follow than my terrible French accent 😄

Looking forward to your tests, comparisons, and feedback!

Thanks for that info. Will this also work for ppsspp or is there another way to overclock that emulator on the wii u?

We're not talking about an emulator here; this is native functionality. With the Dolphin emulator, yes, it's possible to simulate a faster CPU, but it's less authentic than on the original hardware.

I know there are gecko codes to enable 60fps for MK Wii in 4 player mode. I wonder if overclocking helps the performance on a patched 60fps MK Wii game

But to use gecko codes, you need a Wii games loader like USB Loader GX. Or the c2w patch doesn't work with any loader as explained in the video.
