Celia's Stupid Romhack is a bizarre comedic puzzling take on Kanto that's way more thorough than you'd expect

Are you the kind of person who thinks Pokemon takes itself too seriously nowadays? That lives for the Kanto region? And loves a good old DMCA joke? Well do I have the hack for you! After three demos and two years of development, Celia's Stupid Romhack has finally seen its full release, quite fittingly on the 20th of April. With secrets promised around every corner, it's the kind of hack you really do need to appreciate for yourself; you should be able to get a decent idea as to whether it's something you'll enjoy by watching the trailer. From my brief time playing it I can say that more effort has been put into this than the name would make you think.

Those interested can grab the game directly from Hackdex, with the site patching the ROM for you with very little effort.

Celia's Stupid Romhack is a puzzle adventure game about testing your creative thinking skills, as well as an affectionate satire of the Pokemon community and franchise!

Talk to everyone and try to complete the Pokedex - There's secrets and discoveries around every corner!

Grab some friends and play together as you explore a version of Kanto designed to challenge your assumptions and to remind you of everything that made you fall in love with the franchise!

Aaaaaand thats a quick way to know its going to be painfully unfunny the whole way through if ever tired DMCA jokes are a serious highlight for a comedy focused ROM hack.

I feel like this should have stayed buried. If something like this is the highlight of the romhacking community to the point of it getting featured, then that's just sad.

But there's probably other reasons for that...

It's funny as fuck. Watch the playthrough of it, the trailer doesn't do it justice.

You have to think outside the box with this one. If you try to play it like a normal Pokemon game you're not gonna get far. Solving certain puzzles requires some very out of the box thinking. There are hints to help you along though.

I think they're more interested in collecting negative attention than engaging with the romhack as presented.
