Hello everyone. I have a problem with Mario Kart Generations. I have copied the files to the correct folder on the SD card and Sdcaffeine is working. When starting MK8 I can choose whether I want to start with a mod or without. If I select the Generations mod, I get a black screen and the sound hangs.
Im on 5.5.5 and I have Aroma installed. Is the problem with my European version of MK8 ? Is there a solution for my problem?
I have tried downloading the Mod 3 Times now, that should Not be the Problem.
I Hope anyone could figure out the Problem.

Could the Problem resume in the Version of Mario Kart? Its Preinstalled at our WiiU. Other Mods e.g. in NSMB works Like a charm. Next Idee that i have is to Save the Savegame, deleted the installed Version and try to Install a new Version with Nuspli. Then i would try at the European Version, If this not Work i try the US Version. I dont habe any other ideas.

Bit of An Old thread here, I ran into the same issues.. I bet you're using a Mac. If so here's the fix :
This happened to me on MacOS. It happens because MacOS creates Resource Fork files. For example if you have image.png, MacOS automatically creates a hidden metadata file called ._image.png. These files can't normally be seen in Finder.

When the modpack attempts to start, it sees these files, doesn't know how to handle them properly and subsequently crashes. This issue can be resolved by deleting the Resource Fork files from the MarioKart_Gen folder.

  1. Open Terminal
  2. Go to your SD card (For me it was /Volumes/SDCARD/wiiu/REGIONCODE/MarioKart_Gen)
Where SDCARD is the name of your SD card volume and REGIONCODE is the region specific Mario Kart 8 code (I'm on a PAL system so for me it was 000500001010ED00)

3) run the following command with no quotes:

" find . -name "._*" -type f -delete "

This will look in the MarioKart_Gen folder and all subfolders and delete any file that begins with "._". It took about 30 seconds to complete for me.

4) Eject your SD card and you're all done! Enjoy your Mac Mod.

hello... I know im pretty late to this, but I'm using a school Mac for this so I don't have access to the terminal. any way to fix it without it?

You have a 4.5 gig file? .... that you're trying to take to school .... on a hard drive , to put on a Mac ? to put on back on a SD Card that you're also taking to school?...Go home and use a different computer what are you doing?
